This won’t happen again for another hundred years..and it is Veterans Day too!
We should never forget about the fight for freedom.
The granite is cold under foot.
My Dad and my Uncles..one of my Uncles is left behind buried on a foreign shore. I believe it broke my Grandmothers heart when he was killed in action in 1944.
Far Guys Uncle Jimmy.
Far Guys Uncle Archie.
The names..the granite blocks form a walkway..a walkway of soldiers names.
ALL GAVE SOME……………………SOME GAVE ALL
All photos taken the The Veteran’s Memorial Park in Park Rapids Minnesota.
If you are a Veteran..Thank you for your service to our country! :)
What a wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for honoring them and thank those who have served and are serving.
A beautiful tribute. God bless our Veterans.
ReplyDeleteMy heartfelt gratitude to those who have served and continue to serve.
Having come from a military family I truly appreciate your honoring all those that have and have served for us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with us, Far Side.
ReplyDeleteAmen. I think that last line says it all. My heart is full right now, thinking and pondering the day's meaning.
ReplyDeleteOf all days, this is the day that should really bring home what they gave up, for freedom, for us.
ReplyDeleteWe thank them, for their sacrifice.

May the Good Lord bless them all!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post ! Go bless all that put their life on the lines and still are for their Country !
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post. Straight to the heart.
ReplyDeleteMy step side of the family through my Grandmother's side, lost George Horton. He is buried in France and I do want to visit that grave someday. It was very hard on John and Iva, George's parents as all they had was a photo of the cross burial stone and one of the whole cemetery in which to identify his grave.
ReplyDeleteWe are off to the Remembrance Day ceremony this morning. It is a miserable rainy day. Will make us think a little bit what it was like in the trenches in WWII.
ReplyDeleteI always find it such an incredibly sad ceremony. Must remember to take tissues.
Lest we forget.
Your family was part of "The Greatest Generation". My mother lost a cousin the the Battle of the Bulge when a bullet went through the tank viewing slit he was driving. Just a freak thing.
ReplyDeleteWe need to remmeber that every time we see a Vet we should thank them. So many of the Vietnam ones never were told that.
This was a great post and a heartfelt tribute.
And, thank you too, for your service.
My dad and three uncles served during WWII. I am named after one of those uncles (Ray). He was killed in action and my dad wanted to honor him in some way so I carry his name. We owe all our veterans a debt of gratitude. It's good we honor them today.
ReplyDeleteA lovely tribute. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI find that "All Gave Some - Some Gave All" motto to be very touching. Six words that say so much.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what it is like to learn someone in the family has been killed in action... as far as I know, no one in mine as ever been.
Thank you for sharing the photos - and more so, your family's heros.
Beautiful post! AMEN!!!
ReplyDeleteThe memorial is beautiful also. At least they are remembered!
I think so many men feel like people just didn't understand or really care...things like this shows WE DO!
