The Northern Red Oaks are turning color. We have a few in our driveway.
Hello Fall. I guess you are officially here. Chance is our very own personal leaf carrier..his big old fluffy tail is like a leaf catcher.
I watched this tree change color. It is along the road on my way to work.
One day Far Guy slowed down so I could get a photo. I have always thought this was a Maple. Turns out it is a Buckeye according to my cousin Chuckie. I have never stopped along the road to get a closer look…too much traffic. It is the very first tree to color up in our area. It stands all naked now..the wind and rain has denuded it. We don’t have very many Buckeyes in this area…too cold during the winter..but this one is a beautiful survivor.
In the next few days the Fall color will peak in our area:)
Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same here some trees have fully changed and others are still green. Miggy is the same her fluffly tail drags in all kinds of things lol ! sticks, twigs, leaves you name it lol . Have a wonderful day !
It just seems too early for the peak colors in Minnesota. Why did I think it was a month later? Thanks for the link to the museum, BTW!
ReplyDeleteJust spectacular sweetie! I can see how you would mistake it for a sugar maple, the colors are the same.
ReplyDeleteYears ago an old man on the square of Tiny Town once gave me a buckeye for good luck. I've carried it in my purse ever since.
Ya'll have a fantastically blessed weekend sweetie!!!
Nezzy...did the buckeye work? have you enjoyed good luck through your life...
ReplyDeleteLike you, Far Side, I would not have recognized it as anything other than a maple...
Enjoy the first day of autumn...
Awesome! Still too warm here.
ReplyDeleteGreat fall shots. My camera and I need to go for a walk.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy fall is here our trees are big old Oaks, wish they would turn red but no they just stand there and fade in to none color leaves, but they are beautiful and green in the summer.
ReplyDeleteYou could enjoy the fall colors where you are and then come on over here when the fall colors happen here. We have about ten leaves on the ground and only a couple trees beginning to change color.
ReplyDeleteI miss the changing color of the leaves in the fall. Nothing like fall in the north, which, unfortunately is followed by winter in the north. brrrrr.
ReplyDeleteWow. We are still having summer here in California.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I am looking forward to the fall colours coming out here! :)
ReplyDeleteWow - The leaves on my maple are Barely starting to turn (and I do mean barely) - which is odd. We are having a late-bloom summer. It is too warm today to be the first day of fall in the Northwest!
ReplyDeleteWe have two maples and they are just beginning to turn red. The north GA area usually has the most color in late Oct.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely last shot of the Buckeye. You are ahead of us when it comes to autumn...
ReplyDeleteGreat, I don't think our colors here are going to be as good this year because of all the rain and it keeps knocking off a lot of the leaves before they get a chance to get much color to them.
ReplyDeleteIt's too soon!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice fall photos. Over the weekend I was introduced to a Buckeye tree...it was in my daughter's neighbor's yard in south central Iowa. Its leaves were turned orange-red and I meant to take a picture of it but forgot to.
ReplyDeleteWe've only just begun. Which is fine by me. I love autumn, my favorite season of all, but I don't like coming home from the fair and having it half over.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they grow here? I'm going to have to do some investigating!
ReplyDeleteOUr neighbors lost their red maple and are looking for a cleaner replacement
