I can almost taste Fall in the air. The days are almost too warm..in the mid eighties but the nights are delightfully cool. I end up shutting all the windows before morning.
The fall flowers are in bloom.
The Asters of fall..I am not sure if this is a Crooked Stem Aster or not..it is a pretty little Aster…I guess I will leave it at that.
I have 16 days left at the museum and many projects to finish up. Oh I am so not a newsletter person..but it is almost ready to mail out. I wish I had a secretary..that knew all the ins and out of the publisher program. Oh and someone who knows all about PSI files..one of the former Directors scanned a bunch of photographs and saved them to CD in that format..Why?? I have no idea? I can go into the images in some fancy viewer(Irfanview)..some files I can save as Jpegs and some will not convert. ( Stomping my foot up and down..what am I doing wrong?) Why..why why are some people idiots? OR is it I that is bordering on Idiotdom?
Yesterday Sam came downstairs to visit with me a bit about the Civil War..his Mom who works upstairs in the Art Museum home schools him. He is a doll.. and was very interested in the Civil War. He knew quite a bit about it already..so we just added to his knowledge. I found three great books in the Library Vault for him to look at. Having someone to talk with really broke up my day and helped me to fight the wish I was done with the newsletter and images that will not convert feelings I struggled with most of the day.
Visitors to the museum have really slacked off. Of course it is warm again..and who wants to be in a stuffy old museum anyway? I want to be outside too ..enjoying the Fallness:(
Good Morning, Fall is my favorite time of the year. I will miss having asters, mums etc. but we do have two maples which should turn red.
ReplyDeleteSam sounds like a delightful young fellow.
Hope you enjoy your weekend.
I can feel it here, too, although we are having our first warm weather of the year. It won't last, and the birds don't start singing until I get out of bed now, when they used to wake me up every morning. Yep, fall is coming.
ReplyDeleteThe crisp mornings inspire me and get my motor running. I love fall... but I don't particularly care for the cold winter days to follow!
ReplyDeleteFall like here as well, cool fresh air and the leaves are slowly changing and all the summer flowers are coming to an end so now its time for me to get the fall flowers in place .Sam sounds like such a nice young man. Have a wonderful day !
ReplyDeleteVery cool nights here too, and the warmest days of our summer.
ReplyDeleteGlad Sam was able to break up your day, good luck with the newsletters and photos.
I'm wondering if you are going to take the museum job on again next year:)
If you email me one of those PSI photo files you can't open, I'll see if I can. I've about 20 photoshop like programs available to me at work.
ReplyDeleteI'm readdy for fall - but please.... let winter be really late getting here this year...
Yes, Fall is arriving in fits and starts. I am about ready to turn off the ceiling fans as their breeze is a bit cool in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteSixteen more days!! You'll be done at the museum, I'll be done at the fair, we can just sit around enjoying fallness! It looks as if the bulk of fall here will wait until the end of September to begin - I'm glad for that! I love fall and I hate missing it.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite time of year.......asters are some of the best of fall too. Around here we have a purple one that looks similar growing out on the prairie as well as the white tufted prairie aster. I need a secretary too;)
ReplyDeleteFall--with it's crisp, fresh air and cool nights for snuggle sleeping--ahhh! I envision you playing ball with Chance and him nose-hunting through the leaves. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had some company. Sadly, I am one of those people who knows little about computers and, if I did do something, I would probably be one of those idiots who messes up and made you want to pull your hair out and stomp your feet. Sounds like Iggy can help you, though. ;)
Not your fault Far Side. I never heard of PSI. Thank the idiot director for all your problems.
ReplyDeleteYour 16 days will go by before you know it!
I hope the museum people appreciate even a little of the hours of work you've put into your job. I'm sure you're leaving it a better place. What's next for you in 16 days?
ReplyDeleteOH, I enjoy the delicious days of fallness... with just the right touch of coolness in the early mornings and evenings.
ReplyDeleteYour asters are looking good!
What a nice day out here on Straight Lk Ave!!!! Do you and G want to come for supper!!??? Just come over!!!! jo
ReplyDeleteAutumn is also arriving here in Ireland but it has brought winter temperatures with it. 12C for the end of August and the first week in September is not funny.
ReplyDeleteLove that phrase, Fallness....It's in the air, it's on the wings of the crying seagulls. They keen differently now, less fearful, more melodic. Soon the Canada Geese will go overhead, and that always makes my heart sing.
ReplyDeleteOK, you made me rhapsodize about fall enough. Thank goodness you only have a few weeks to go. You must have been looking so forward to that. At least you have interesting visitors.

I've been reading all I can find on the Civil War in the NC mountains. It is fascinating history.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am sooooo ready for Fall.
Great idea - lil pumpkin is going on a long ride!!!!! tx, jo
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the first summers where I am totally not ready for Fall - it took so long for us to warm up over here in the NW - we FINALLY are in the high 80°s and I'm just not ready to let summer go....although I heard geese crying this morning, so I know it is coming!
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite time of year! Wonderful pictures. We rae having some warm days and cool nights; very nice.
ReplyDeleteAren't you going to be at the Museum anymore after this summer? In reading your recent blogs I am not sure.
ReplyDeleteLast week I noticed the smell of fall in the air...then it got hot again...mixed me up completely...
ReplyDeleteI had asters similar to this but they have gone away. I guess I need to seek a new source to get a start of them again.
