Pink is not my favorite color, but I do like me some pink flowers.
An unknown rose..it may have had a name..I would have called it Pink Perfection if I were in charge of naming roses.
Sunday I saw this flower bed. Perfection! This was my favorite planting.
It had some huge grass in the middle..Prince Pennisteum, then Sparkler Rose Cleome with a border of Alyssum the one called Snow Crystals and a Sundial Fuchsia Moss Rose. Just the Alyssum and the Moss Roses would make a striking border if you had a small area to plant. ( Note to my daughter Jen..this would work in your little bed by the back step.)
Here is a better photo of that grass. Perhaps when the grass goes to seed it will look better.
I like Cleome..especially the variety Sparkler..it doesn’t get as tall as the regular Cleome. Planted in mass it is impressive…my photograph taken in full sun doesn’t do it justice. I had a blast walking around taking photos, so many flowers ..so little time:)
So pretty, I love pink!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pinks and I love that rose!
ReplyDeleteThat border would work almost anywhere, it is so pretty. I myself am a fan of pink. :-)
ReplyDeletePretty in pink ! The gardens are lovely .I like all kinds of colors lol ! Nice photos ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeletePink happens to be my favorite color and that was so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I enjoy your blog is the knowledge you share with your readers. I appreciate it very much. I love flowers and am often frustrated when I don't know what I'm looking at. Thank you for naming names.
ReplyDeleteThe grass looks like it is hiding. But the alyssum and moss rose rings encircling the cleome is very eye catching! Indeed!
ReplyDeleteI do love cleome, both for the distinctness of the flower and for the height. Last year, the plants I bought never grew.
ReplyDeleteI think Prince Pennisetum is the wrong grass for that bed, although the rest of the bed is really lovely. A tall variegated (white and green) grass that might have looked better, although once 'Prince' blooms it will look quite striking.
ReplyDeleteI grew Cleome last year for the first time, and tried to put it in the flower bouquets. It had some wicked thorns though:(
A lot of pretty pinks!
ReplyDeleteThese garden pictures are soo good. Gives me ideas! I think I'd like to go to that garden.
ReplyDeleteWalking around, you can always find something more to photograph...
ReplyDeleteI have to check out Cleome. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great planting. It definitely is not in my yard.
ReplyDeleteVery nice flower bed that for sure.
ReplyDeletep.s There was a wedding going on there in June when we were there. We even stopped and watched a bit. Dubuque Iowa also has a wonderful arboreteum and does wedding as well. :)
REally like what you're doing with this series where you show flower beds at their peak.
ReplyDeleteNever seems like you have enough time to do the things that you enjoy! I happen to love the color pink! Not my favorite but still like it.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Wish I had some roses but mine all died.
ReplyDeleteI'm big on Clemome I do so love them. And I forgot to plant any this year...sigh.
ReplyDeleteJen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
I've been thinking about planting cleome, and I'm glad to know about the shorter variety. Thanks!
