… the beautiful, the beautiful river; gather with the saints at the river that flows by the throne of God.”
That old hymn’s chorus ran through my head many times yesterday. We didn’t get to sing it much in the Lutheran Church..but the Baptists..this was their song..and they sang it upbeat and with joy in their voices.
We went to town, we had to get Far Guy some new shirts that will accommodate his large “club.” The shirts needed the left arm seam split.. Jo fixed them all up. Thank goodness for neighbors that sew! It is still a bit early for T- Shirts..although spring has come to the river in town.
I got out of the car and walked to the river while Far Guy and Chance watched..Chance was such a good boy..he never even barked. Then we drove along the river so Far Guy and Chance could get a good view..
The Swans, Ducks and Geese just went about their business..they think it is spring. Watching them swim around, sometimes fighting, sometimes flying off..gave me hope that spring will come again soon.
The open water looks quite beautiful to me!
Far Guy is doing OK, he is still uncomfortable and is learning just how difficult it is to navigate in a two handed world when you can only use one hand. Thank you for all your kind comments..he read them all:)
it just amazes me that a little finger requires him to have the huge club! Your pictures are so beautiful, and I agree that the open water and the swans are a sight for sore eyes!
ReplyDeleteOh my, it really does look like spring!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. We have the Tundra swans migrating and there are hundreds flying over they are a protected spiecies over here I was able to get photos of them in flight. Glad Far Guy is recovering. Have a great day !
ReplyDeleteHope you're both having a blessed weekend. Love your pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful pictures, and it certainly looks 'Springy'.(you just have to ignore the snow in the background)
ReplyDeleteoh jealous. rarely see any swans close around here. I have to drive over to where the WW flows into the Columbia river (30 minutes)
ReplyDeleteBut, even then, don't know if we'll ever see swans. In February there are 1000s of water fowl - as so many migrate through here to head towards canada and alaska
I was one of those Baptists and yes, I remember singing that song a lot. Your pictures look nice. I like the wildlife, especially the swans. At last, your frozen tundra is finally starting to melt. What a relief for you to see something other than the white stuff.
ReplyDeleteLike Rae, I grew up singing this song with passion! Such a beautiful scene along the river there. Glad you three had a chance to get out for a while and see some hope of Spring. My best to Gene and I hope he improves every day. Sounds like Jo is a great neighbor/friend. Hope you have a pleasant evening.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful we are made so we can heal. With time a love a lot of bad things get better. Best wishes to Far Guy and his challenges. It sounds like he has a lot of support--you and Chance especially).
ReplyDeleteA trip to see spring melting out of the crud of old winter is more healing than anything from the pharmacy. Good choice to gather at the river.
I love all birds, but big white wild swans are my favorite.
Lovely swans, and I like that song too. Two other favorites of mine are I'll Fly Away and Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
ReplyDeleteThe mallards are a wonderful shot. I am envious of the swans. They have naturalized them in Iowa but not around here. I hope Far Guy heals fast.
ReplyDeleteSo, glad he is doing ok, has to hurt like --ll! We are defiantly getting our taste of spring, which is a nice change. Love the pictures of the swans, ducks and geese!
ReplyDeleteWow is an understatement...these are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOpen water? I'm seriously jealous. All the best to the Far Guy in his one handedness......I'll bet his bathroom efforts are "pee yourself funny".....did I say that?
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Far Guy has found a lot of simple things he can't do? Washing hair? Eating? How do I know this? i broke my wrist twice. Hope all goes well for Far Guy and that his trusty assistant helps him>
ReplyDeleteI drove out there the other day, but didn't have my camera. Really pretty with the swans swimming around. Noisey, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteKeep healing Gene - You'll be really good at doing things with one hand, by the time your 6 weeks are up!
You have OPEN water!! Lucky lucky you... Fabulous shots!
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband had shoulder surgery, I took out the side seam and put in velco. He was then more independent.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you have swans close by...they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShoot, I missed the posts about Far Guy trying to cut off his finger. That is a huge bandage after the surgery. Hope it is not a lot of pain.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos, particularly the bottom one. I really like it.
That is so absolutely pretty! Now I get to envy you your swans, Anna gets them up north but they rarely make it down this far. One or two get blown in if we have a harsh storm.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo JO....good to see your appreciated!!! Good neighbors are hard to find!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and I bet the water fowl are thrilled they don't have to doge any ice!
God bless an have a terrific day sweetie!!! :o)
At first I was thinking you were going to describe a baptism service until I saw the photos. Threw me for a loop for a moment.
ReplyDeleteThe swans are gorgeous and the water makes it look much warmer there than what it actually is! So glad you could get out today. Have Far Guy keep a journal about how much he learns to do with one hand. Still praying all the function returns to his injured finger.
