Today is the first day of Spring..coulda fooled me ..other than it is still drizzling out there..I did find some green.
One of Chances balls that was lost over the winter and the stupid Daylilies that think it is safe to come up because the line from the outside furnace runs under their roots on it’s way to the house. The birds have made quite a mess..Spring in Minnesota is a non pretty time of year. Dirty snow, shades of brown and grey..
Soon we can have a campfire…
The dirt road that runs on the south side of our property. It is icy.
Snow Stick Report:
Chance and I went out and took a photo about 10AM.
The Oak tree is making a skirt ..and the snow is getting less. I doubt that the pretty green ruler will be free of snow today. I am sorry Country Gal and Jan from Alex..you both guessed March 21.
Tomorrows guess March 22..was from my daughter Jen..she threatened to bring over a hair dryer and melt the snow around the snow stick. It sounds like she will have her work cut out for her as we are supposed to get dumped on..3 to 8 inches of snowy spring fun is headed our way:(
I'm totally ignoring the forecasts. Maybe all that snow will go somewhere else. On the other hand, we'd have a few hours of CLEAN snow instead of all this dirty stuff! You are so right... early spring in Minnesota is pretty ugly, until the beautiful part shows up.
ReplyDeletemakes me sad for you but when your flowers do bloom they last longer then ours because we get in to that dry hot hot summer.
ReplyDeleteOh, the melting is what the stick is for... I thought I was guessing when winter was going to be back! It is coming back tomorrow. I win! And if you don't think I can changed the rules... ask me if I am related to Marvin...
ReplyDeleteOh, if I thought we were going to get more snow, I think I would cry! I hope yours melts soon!
ReplyDeleteWe have gotten some of our deepest snows in March but at least they don't last long!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how great it is to see the ground again for ya'll.
God bless and come on Spring...do your thing!!! :o)
My mother and brother were saying maybe more snow for Michigan, too.
ReplyDeleteStay warm! Hope the snow melts before you get more. :)
I can't believe that our grass is showing...that Minnesota snow would have me down.
ReplyDeleteThe way things are going we might see spring by May if we are lucky. We had a few days but the snow is back. I think I won't mind the dirty snow, and grey and brown if we can get the grass to peek through and stay.
ReplyDeleteI thought I guessed April 1st I must be loosing it lol. Nope not loosing it I did say April 1st just confirmed it from the post I commented on. You had me wondering there for a sec lol We have no snow left and I like it lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day .
Country Gal..This is what I took your guess from the Feb 22 post called Clean Snow

"Hoping here it will all be gone by March 21st the first full day of spring but I have my doughts as we are still heavely covered in snow and still bitterly cold BAAAHUMBUG! Come on spring ! Have a good day !"
oooh sorry. I do have horrible guilt pangs. I'll make myself feel a bit better today as I go out to pump water from the Market Garden in a zany attempt to plant taters, I'll get my boot stuck in the mud and then end up walking stocking footed for a few feet so as not to fall flat on my face in my oozing soft spring mud, then I will think of you, and how grateful I am and how hopefully you too can have a mud experience soon. A real mud experience, not a muddy snow experience.
ReplyDeleteMy Michigan springs were pretty bleak too. I would go on "green" hunts in hope of finding that brave first tulip peaking through the ground. Now I'm lovin" the N.C. spring, but not the summer.
ReplyDeleteWe could have more snow but I hope not!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had one hard freeze....and everything is budding out down here. I'm thinking we're in for one more hard cold day...but I don't know when.
ReplyDeleteRight now I don't envy your ice, snow, or cold, but come summer when we are sweltering down here with 100% humidity and 90 degrees temps, I will envy your summer weather and all those nearby lakes.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was really a stretch for finding some green, Connie! Spring must be buried somewhere under there, doncha think? :-)
ReplyDeleteWishing warmer weather for you! It was 75 degrees here on Friday and back to winter this week with sleet and the chance of snow. Bleck!! The grass is just starting to green up and early flowers are blooming.
ReplyDeleteI always think of March as a winter month in order not to get disappointed by the March snowfalls...
ReplyDeleteThe snow well around the tree is BROWN! Spring is coming...slow but sure!
