Valentines Day..I am not sure why it is a big deal..are you supposed to love more today than other days? Perhaps you are just supposed to show it today..with cards, flowers and chocolates. Another of those shopping commercial holidays..I say Bah Humbug..wrong holiday you say..maybe not.
How about those things you cannot buy that are shared everyday? A hand to hold, a laugh to share, an inside joke that only two of you understand, a comfortable silence, a knowing glance that speaks more than words. 15,695 Valentines Days, one right after the other. Everyday for 43 years can be Valentines Days, some are just more memorable than others. Have you ever noticed that Chance sports three fourths of a heart shape? He is quite a dog! You have heard of wearing your heart on your sleeve..Chance wears his on his shoulder:)
Yep, I have noticed Chances heart. Both inside and out!!!
ReplyDeleteSo true girl...every blessed day we should be sharin' our love! It's just magnified on Valentine's Day!
Have a wonderfully blessed Valentines Day sweetie! Now, go squeeze the stuffins' outta your man!!! :o)
Chance truly is a valentine every day. He probably never lets you forget that he needs his people and you definitely need him.
ReplyDeleteI agree. You don't need a particular day to let your special one know.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's strictly commercialism.
Chance is a handsome dog. :)
Happy Valentines Day, Chance!! You and your folks have big hearts for all of us!

I agree - every day is Valentine's Day! Although I never refuse chocolates any day of the week...
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day....and yes, I can totally see the heart on Chance!!
ReplyDeleteOh Chance will you be my valentine. I'll bring you food and the best doggie snacks and shower you with love. Be mine Chance.
ReplyDeleteChance is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI get tired of all the commercialized events in our life, so we generally don't participate in having to run out and buy something. However, Valentine's Day is a good reminder for us to have a special something this evening together, i.e. a nicer bottle of wine with dinner. Every day is should be Valentine's Day as we show our love.
Have a great one!
Well, Happy Valentines day to Chance!
ReplyDeleteOh and you too Connie!
ReplyDeleteIt's just another holiday for the candy & card makers to reap in millions of dollars. We never have made a big deal of it. Like you, I think we need to show love everyday to the ones we care about. Yes, Chance is quite a dog! He makes a special Valentine 365 days a year.
ReplyDeleteChance is all heart, never mind three fourths:)
ReplyDeleteDogs, they know how to share the love, every day.
Happy Valentines Day to you all.
If the retailers had to depend on the likes of me to keep them in business, especially on days like this, they'd all be closed.
Ah, Chance is a dog who shows his love for you for all to see.
ReplyDeleteAs, I suspect, does Far Guy.
Well said about Valentines.... still I did take Her Majesty out to Whiskey Creek for lunch today.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm paranoid but I thought the previous post was sad. The big city politicians speak of Greater Minnesota but when push come to shove we get little but the leftovers and our small town are drying up and blowing away in the wind....
I had a lot of extra hugs and kisses from my guy today, so I reciprocated. We didn't buy anything extra but spent a lot of time smiling at each other. Maybe we'll spend a couple of weeks making sure we get it all in... :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, cute Chance. I'd never noticed his heart before -- so sweet! And I'm with you. Sometimes I'm more into the day than others, but mostly, when I'm digging it, it's just because it's time for a date night and it's a handy excuse.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a 'like' button here. Very well said.
ReplyDeleteI don't have as many days as you but I agree with the concept......he did make my supper last night though which isn't something he'd normally do;)
ReplyDeleteConnie, I agree with your comments that Valentine's Day is not a single day celebrated with commercialism. We regard it as strictly for "amateurs" because love is a year round celebration of ups, downs and everything in between. We treated 2 good friends to dinner out and had a wonderful evening of conversation. Grenville and I had agreed on no candy, flowers or gifts...but we did give each other lots of cards (gotta love dollar stores).
ReplyDeleteChance's heart sort of looks like a duck, too.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that would be the sentiment of the man whose feast day is February 14th. He was, legend has it, a significant proponent of Christian marriage nd supported true marriage instead of the typical pagan ones of his day which were based on dominating lust and/or social position. So yes, it should be a celebration of a love that thrives every single day for years 'til death parts. Your right, those are the true St. Valentine's Days.
