Milestones December 11, 2010

Last year on December 11th 2009 I wrote a blog post about Milestones.  The birth of a child, a 90th birthday, and some anniversary milestones that were personal to Far Guy and I.
This year was kinda the same old, same old..the baby would be one, Auntie Esther would be 91. I put a birthday card in the mail to her on Wednesday.. Auntie Esthers Birthday

While were were gone to Jens we heard the news that Auntie Esther had died.  We were in to visit with her on Tuesday afternoon, she was cheerful and was glad to see us.  She was my oldest blog reader..she told me “They get me up in the wheelchair and I get over there to the computer and read your blog.”  She knew she was dying, she was looking forward to going to heaven to see her Lord and Savior and to see her Jim again…she shared that with us over the past few weeks.  It was her decision not to go back to the hospital anymore and she told us that she was getting very tired.  Thursday morning she died, one day before her 91st birthday.  She will celebrate in Heaven this year.

I can hear Uncle Jimmy’s big old booming voice saying “What took you so damn long?” :)

  1. It is amazing how much Auntie Esther in the top picture looks just like the Auntie Esther in the bottom picture. The smile, the glasses, the cheeks, the sparkle in her eyes! Welcome home Ester.

  2. My aunt was 101 this Nov. and she was so mad at her husband for not coming to see her. He died in the 1990's. Bless her heart she comes and goes from past to present.

  3. She sounds like one very special lady. I know you will miss her, but you can be comforted by the thought that she is happy now and where she wanted to be.

  9. I know I would like Uncle Jimmy. I am so sorry for the loss even when she ready. The times of milestone I guess are deaths too as people go to heaven and leave us here. She looks like a wonderful person.

  10. I also noticed how much the later and earlier Esther looked alike! She just got tired and went to rest. How beautiful a story, and I love your take on her passing. Those left behind are the ones who grieve, not Aunt Esther!
