Fourth Day Of Winter

The downstairs tree is complete.

IMG_0171

The fancy Christmas Tree skirt is actually a piece of brown velvet that Far Guy used to use as a cape at his Grandma H’s house. We have used it as a tree skirt for years and years.

IMG_0157 This is my newest ornament which is a gift from Adam.  He gave it to me last night..it has his name and the date on the back.  There is nothing more precious to me than a simple homemade gift.

IMG_9924 This is a Santa that Madison made for me in school last year.  It sits in it’s spot next to the fireplace. Madison did a wonderful job painting it!

That jug is one of my simplest decorations..I bought it in Kentucky ..it has a Poinsettia on one side and is plain on the other side..so it stays out all year round.

Simple things..one of lifes little pleasures this time of year.  One more day..and all the hoopla will be over.. the stores will close..the bells that ring will be Church bells announcing the birth of Christ..the carols that will be sung will finally have some meaning…the Christ Child is born! :)

  1. Wonderful Christmas tour, you are so right, the simple things are most important.

Love the ornament and the Santa, both works of art made with lots of love.

I also love the tiling around the fireplace!

    Merry, Merrry Christmas!

  7. Those handmade decorations are the best! And you also paint a picture of a wonderful, safe and very merry Christmas. Your thumb must be a whole lot better, or at least that's MY Christmas wish for you.

  8. I love your fireplace's surrounding tile. It's really beautiful. And the Santa goes great there. I have coworkers who would fight hard to win that in a "naughty Santa" game (the one where you can steal another's gift rather than choose from the pile).
It is obvious you love celebrating Christmas and will not miss it no matter what is happening with your health. Praise God for traditions, family, and faith!

  9. Oh everything looks so wonderful, sweet and simple and meaningful. I'm glad to hear that you have a "Christmas" decoration that you leave out all year. 'Cause guess what is going to happen to my new little cabin?! It is going to stay hanging on my tea cup cupboard. Bet hung hers on the tree for now but then it will join mine. I love it! Them! Thank you.

  16. We just returned from a Christmas eve service that far greater than what we expected. It was done with a huge choir and was so beautiful. Candlelight service and everyone lit a candle at the end. Have a great Christmas day with all that family.
