Wistful Wednesday: 1952

This photo was taken shortly after my Dad returned from Korea.  My Mom has pin-curls in her hair..and I am looking pretty cute.. being the oldest..I was an only child back then.  This photo was taken in my maternal grandparents yard..that is one of those infamous woodsheds behind us. Notice all the clothes lines.

My parents purchased a Farmstead with 160 acres shortly after this, it was the farm that I grew up on.  It is just two miles cross country from where we live now:)

  2. What a great picture. And yes, look at all the clothes lines! A lot of hard work then - just think of all the baby diapers. I remember that when Leah was born I tried throw aways, but she broke out all over, so I had to wash diapers too! Just think of the money we saved! And saved from plastic to the landfill!

  3. I just went looking for a picture of my mother with her hair in pincurls but I couldn't find it. Maybe my sister has it. Anyway, your picture is so indicative of that period. Amazing, isn't it, how much things have changed?

  4. That's a sweet picture Connie. My mom used to roll the neighbor ladies' hair on pin curls for them.

  5. The holly hock girl, we wore our dress short like that. I have lots of pictuers of me like that at about that age.

  11. What a neat photo. I just found a booklet of photos of me and my brothers, black and white of course. I didn't know I had them and they are the same vintage. Great bonnet!!
