Chances

Yesterday while everyone was off fishing..etc.. Chance and I went out to take some photos.  Our little Jack Pine which was just a troublesome seedling has grown almost before our eyes.  Not everyone has an appreciation for the little Jacks.

This morning Chance and I were out again..since yesterdays ice and snow our poor little Jack is a little bent over..his ability to spring back may have been severely compromised.

Today everyone is planning to watch football or play board games.. I heard something about Bananagrams, never played it..but it sounds interesting.  I will probably nap during the football game ..what are the chances that the Vikings will get to the super bowl anyway..about as many chances as my little Jack Pine has of complete recovery:)

  1. Awww. I hear you, Connie. It looks like the ice has pushed it down. But it might recover just fine! Enjoy your board games. Here's a big Sunday hug.

  3. Poor little pine. Whenever we have a heavy snow I go out to brush off our little evergreen bushes. They always look so pathetic slumped over and bent from the weight of the snow. In the picture Chance appears to have his eye on something. Wonder what he spied out there.

I think the Vikings have a good chance of making it to the Superbowl. My ideal match up will be the Colts and Vikings. I am watching the playoffs today. Enjoy your board games today.

  5. The snow on the trees is beautiful..even on that little bent over Jackpine!

  6. Those little trees are pretty resilient and often bounce back after being weighted down. We have learned around the Ozarks not to prune the limbs that have been pulled to the ground by ice. As they warm they will make this awful cracking and popping noise and spring back to their old position. Chance looks like he is having a blast!

    God bless and stay safe!

  7. I think your little pine will be ok. It's so young, I'm sure it's very flexible! The game is on here, right now...but I'm not too interested. It's tied at 21 in the 4th though, so they may just make it!

  9. Poor pine.. but they are kind of hardy, so I'm hoping the little fella will be OK.

More snow forecast here at the end of the week!

  10. Just look at all that snow! Glad that it's not around here, right now. I do think that that Jack Pine will recover once the Spring comes and warmer weather prevails.

Alongside our Home we have Arborvitae. When it snows on the heavy side or we get some ice, they always hang down. Once the snow & ice are gone, they come back to what they were before.

  11. I've had ornamental pears about 1" caliper or so bent over and frozen to the ground....and amazingly enough....we didn't loose any. So there is a chance.....but still not nice to see!

  12. I lost some big branches from my 104 year old lilac this winter. It just was too much for it so I do understand.

  13. And why do most people not like Jack pine? I do hope yours recovers. We had two tall ones in the back yard that had to come down six years ago, I miss them.
