I tried wheat weaving or Hvetevefting..I soaked the wheat in a bucket..I braided the stalks together..I made ornaments ..they slowly lost all their grains and were left looking skinny but bearded. I threw them away. Luckily for me I have a friend who shared her good harvest with me. Wheat is a symbol of life and the key ingredient of bread.
Our tree is finally complete..see I had plenty of time..these days before Christmas are listed on a piece of paper..it is "The List" that we will live by for the next few days.. Happy first day of winter! :)

I did not put up a tree this year, but You reminded me of a wheat ornament I bought at a craft show in the n GA mountains many years ago. Your tree is very pretty and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

ReplyDeleteI have seen some nice wheat ornaments at craft shows and thought about doing some myself but that was my concern,getting the seeds to stay in and keeping the whole thing from drying out and crumbling away.Your tree looks beautiful and I bet I would love your house with all he wood.Merry Christmas!!!

I love the wheat ornament. Your tree is gorgeous. Do you have old pine paneling on your walls. I do but my grain is vertical. I love my paneling but it sure is dark, but thankfully I have a great big picture window (old timey stuff).

Looks beautiful and full of homemade ornaments like an old-fashioned tree. Ours is the same...I don't go for the "all the ornaments the same" color-themed trees...too false and no memories on it!
