A Birthday Party Fourty Five Years Ago
I am the oldest person in this photo, and my baby brother is the youngest. He was four years old back in 1964, and I was thirteen. Gosh that year we had sunshine on his birthday..not so much today. This photograph was taken on the farm. Lots of local people are in this photo..everyone is still alive! However the poor old dog in the corner of the photo has passed on ( He died on my birthday in 1974) he was a Spitz and his name was Wally. Everyone lives in this area, except for my brother who lives in Oregon. One of the people in this Photo still lives on that farm..who woulda thunk it? I had a hard time identifying one person in this photo..my cousin Dwight, his curly hair and his nose and chin gave him away. It is a good reminder to get out that photo pencil and mark some old photos. I found it a very interesting photo.. Happy Birthday to my Baby Brother..next year he will be 50!!
Nope never was a majorette..never coordinated enough to march and twirl at the same time. :)
Happy Birthday to your brother.
ReplyDeleteBaton twirling must have been a common thing to do for girls back then. I remember spending hours twirling and marching. I wasn't a majorette either been I sure wanted those white boots and tassels that they wore.
Happy Birthday to your Brother. Oh yes, I had the white go-go boots too but usually hit myself in the head with my baton! Very cute picture.
ReplyDeleteQuite the special family you have there. I enjoyed the picture of your clan! Ya'll look like quite a team. Happy birthday to your baby bro.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day!!!
Well, happy birthday, brother! Amazing, isn't it, when we look back how much we have changed. But 45 years is not a small number, either. I just watched a video of the new craze, jump roping instead of baton twirling. If you really want a thrill, go look up the King Firecrackers video (posted here. A bunch of girls who jump rope like nothing you've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it seem like last week or month though??
ReplyDeleteTime goes by so fast.
Happy Birthday to your brother.
I had a baton back then too. No telling how many times that thing came speeding back down on my head. I gave it a good try.
Love the picture.
Have a great day.
Pam
What a special picture! My brother just posted our picture of four boys sitting on the wood pile outside the house. That was a long time ago, also. I am glad all of those are still alive in your picture. I love the color quality of the photos that we had back then.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday baby brother!
ReplyDeleteI was looking at photos tonight trying to find one of my grandson sleeping. I was kicking myself for not putting names on photos. My grandkids all look quite a bit alike as babies.
ReplyDeleteand happy birthday to the little guy forty-five years later!
