Okay..Some Of My Readers Have Spoken!

Thank you readers for the comments. I did not get any negative feedback, so I guess I will continue to blog, as long as my readers comment occasionally! If my "funnies" make you laugh out loud, and you get to live seven minutes longer, I feel kind of obligated! One reader said I was like "chocolate for her mind" ..we used to live next door to each other. I did have one astonishing request for a long term commitment "Ten years" was her suggestion. I am sure she is just momentarily deranged by the lack of sunlight in Sweden. I do thank you all for the encouragement!

This flu really sucks, I have no appetite..for me this is really strange. What is even stranger..one time when I surfaced from my fever induced delirium I could smell pizza from Pizza Hut. I swear it was the aroma of a thin crust, pepperoni with extra cheese with just a hint of the warm cardboard box. I decided it was just a revenge delirium, I wanted Far Guy to be as miserable as me. He is allergic to some ingredient (more than likely meat tenderizer)that Pizza Hut uses, it gives him the Hershey squirts for days. I have come to my senses..for now..he brings me jello, chicken soup and popsicles.

Far Guy is taking a daily dose of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to boost his immune system. I do not know how he swallows it, and keeps it down, but he does. It just might be working too..as he is not sick yet! This idea comes from a fellow blogger and friend Buffalo Gal! Thanks B Gal!

I hate all the over the counter cold and flu medications that just mask your symptoms and bust up your normal bodies rhythms, which makes you sicker longer. Did I get a Flu shot..NO..It seems I have been the most miserable those years. The last time I got a Flu shot, I got the Flu so bad I told Far Guy to just drop me off at the Funeral Home..just in the driveway so they could roll me in when they came to work the next morning. It seemed practical to me at the time, it would have saved a body pick up fee.

I am feeling better, today I am going to venture outdoors and take some photos, throw the Frisbee for Chance and document the snow before the next snowstorm comes on in tonight. The snow fall record for the month of December will be broken with the snow they predict for tonight:)

  1. Tis I - the deranged one from Sweden! :-)

Glad to hear you are feeling much much better! The flu really is awful!

I can also recommend going on a probiotics course of pills to build up the immune system.

  5. Hershey squirts, HA HA HA HA! sorry, ROTFL.
In my family we would not dare to mention that.

Ok I am calm now, hope that you soon feel better, loved that line about just dropping you off at the funeral home. I have had the flu that bad also. It sucks! It just seems to take time, don't pass it on to me PLEASE!!!

Looking forward to seeing those photos.

  7. I haven't had a flu shot in over 30 years and I'm a public school teacher! That shot nearly killed me, too! BAD REACTION! Now I take some Manuka Honey at the first sign of a sore throat. I don't eat or drink for an hour afterward, to let it coat my throat. I had a sore throat this week while on vacation, took some when I got home, and today I'm fine. This is not regular honey. It comes from New Zealand and is $$ (about $16.00 a jar)...VERY dark and thick and FULL of antibacterial enzymes, antioxidants, and vitamins and "good stuff". Good luck with the flu virus! Knock on wood, I haven't had it yet this year. I usually do, it goes into bronchitis...I'm sick for 3 months!

Get better soon.It is no fun being sick at this time of year. I think our area will be up for a snow record for December as well. I love your new header btw. Your blog makes me laugh and giggle! Thank you for that!

  10. This isn't really Ten Toe Tapper--I don't have time to sign in as me right now...

    What's PI?

I think Bear Bait was right--I took the "sensitive" part out of Christmas Letters so it wasn't there when you read it. And I thought of a better idea for fixing it: You're into forthright truth, and Far Guy is so good at humor, that I'll consult/collaborate w/ y'all! I can already envision the headline--kind of a spin off of Harry & the Hendersons--"Fruity & the Far Side..." ;~)

Tomorrow I'll have a chance to email the TN info I collected today.

    Glad you're feeling better!

  13. Glad you're feeling better! I love the funeral home idea -- some people say "cheap" but I prefer the term "frugal."

  15. I get a flu shot every year....I work in a hospital and am around sick people all the time...The only time I had the flu was before I started to get those shots. I was so sick I thought I was dying and was hoping it would be soon.....That was in the 70's somewhere.

Just found your blog and hope you are feeling better

  16. Hope you feeling better. Had to laugh at the very appropriate "Hershey squirts"! Ten years ought to be good.

  17. Congrats on one year of blogging! Listen, we far-side-of-50-women need to keep it up so that the young 'uns can benefit from our accumulated wisdom! Hope you feel better soon.

  18. I have missed reading your blog while the kids were here. I'm glad you had a good Christmas and I'm sorry you have been sick.

I am glad you decided to continue blogging. It's fun - I have been blogging for about 3 years and enjoy it a lot. Don't know if anyone else does, but I do it for ME.

Your Mrs. B sounds very hard to live near. She would absolutely detest living next to me. The quiet would make her happy but the animals here would not, and my house would drive her into despair.

Have a happy blogging new year!

  20. What? you thought about NOT blogging? ARe you crazy?? While my satellite was covered in ice & hence busted...I felt 'lost'! Glad you came to your senses!
Sure hope you are feeling better now. I've yet to have a flu shot for that very reason...too many stories of people getting sicker than had they not! besides...I don't do needles or pills well at all!
