My mom setting my head and,...I remember pin curls! My mom setting my head and, when I was old enough, me setting hers. She wasn't very good at it and didn't tuck in the stick straight ends so I looked very odd and unsettling. So, I learned how to do my own at a young age, was better at it than she was, so then had to do hers, too--LOL! When my mother used to put my hair up in pin curls she would spit on the hair to moisten it before rolling the hair. Then she would tie a scarf around my head to hold the curls in place.
