Finally a Petunia or two!
No thanks to these guys.
I am sure one of these nights they will help themselves.
What's cooking? Some Pork Ends from Aldi that were pretty good with corn, green beans, cherries and strawberries.
Minnesota weather: High 84F or 29C Low was 65F or 18C.
The fawns are cute, but deer are really giant pests. They destroy a lot of our work.
ReplyDeleteIt’s really hot here. The petunias would be wilted.
Those petunias are worth celebrating after all the trouble they’ve had. Hopefully the little garden visitors leave them alone long enough to enjoy their blooms. Your Minnesota weather is right for enjoying the garden and a good meal outdoors.
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to share :-)
ReplyDeleteUgg! They’re so majestic (bucks), beautiful (does), and cute (fawns), but this time of year they eat anything and everything! One helped itself to my newly planted moss rose last night on the sidewalk. No shame. 🤣 RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year in decades that I haven't planted any petunias. Your are pretty!! Those little visitors are so cute!! We haven't seen any fawns yet this summer, but do have baby turkeys around. And baby raccoons - 8 of them came with mama to our deck the other night in search of a snack.
ReplyDeleteDeer are so bold. I am not okay with them eating my plants. There is plenty of wild stuff growing for them to fill their bellies. Hopefully your petunias live to bloom many more days :)
ReplyDeleteDeer are such opportunists!! Darling to look at, not darling what they do to a garden
ReplyDeletePretty babies - - they know you will take care of their culinary cravings!
ReplyDeleteAldi's is great - - especially for produce prices. One thing I have been looking for at other stores is a thicker cut of white fish. I saw some in a woman's cart in a Chattanooga Aldi's store when we were 'in town' for a doctor's appt. (I did not take it - - LOL) but I bought the family pack of Alaska wild caught cod in the family pack. I made some last night - - soaked it in lemon water for 10 minutes - - put it on parchment paper with butter underneath. I topped it with Mrs. Dash Lemon Pepper, Parmesan cheese, and crushed corn flakes. YUM!!!
Those fawns are cute but no doubt also hungry. I hope they don't find your Petunias.
ReplyDeleteYour low ( of 18C) yesterday was our high. We've been so fortunate to have days not too hot but the coming week is forecast to be hot. It will shorten the blueberry season.
We bought some cheap down-priced Petunias here and they have been wonderful, bursting into colour all over the okace!
ReplyDeleteWe battled deer in Colorado. I found a few plants they'd only eat if they were hard up. It was sad having to 'cage' pretty flowers in ugly fences.
ReplyDeletesupper sounds good at your place! I don't have much luck with Petunias....although our geraniums are doing good!
ReplyDelete" These guys" have eaten mot of my garden this year.
ReplyDeleteLast year we caught the deer eating my tomatoes on our cameras. They would pull them off the vine one by one and take one bite, then toss them. I did not find it funny.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. ❤️
ReplyDelete(Oh, gosh, rereading this it sounds like spam!) I finally found a product that does a really good job keeping deer away from our plants. It's Plantskydd and I use both the granules and the spray, depending on the plants. It's kind of pricey and smells terrible but it's worth it! And it's waterproof so it doesn't wash away like other repellents, and you can go a month or so before you have to reapply it.
