Dog Sitter/Treat Lady

My baby brother and his bride had a day of Doctor appointments.

Good thing their dogs love me...I am a good substitute ball player treat giver.

Baxter

And his delinquent sister.

 Smudge

She has to twirl while waiting for you to throw her ball.

The treats I give out are Cherrios which are almost no calories.

They are good about doing their business and staying near me outside.

Dogs are a good distraction for me.

Minnesota weather: It turned cool.  High 59F or 15C   Low was 44F or  7C.

What's Cooking:  Hobo Dinners one night...my favorite, Far Guy not so much.  Ribs and French Fries with peaches for dessert last night.

How I make the Hobo Dinner...on a piece of foil stack a hamburger patty, cover with sliced potatoes and carrots...enclose in the foil  I put the packets on a cookie sheet just in case one leaks then bake about 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees...when they are done top with your favorite cheese.  You can add onions, different meat, veggies what ever floats your boat.  It is an easy meal with easy clean up!

  2. The dogs are so pretty! I am glad you get to enjoy other people's pups sometimes. You love dogs. Hobo dinner sounds great. Back in the eighties, we made a casserole that had hamburger patties, sliced onions, and potatoes with cream of some kind of soup. Or you could top it with tater tots. It was delicious.

  3. Love hobos! We put ours on the grill when it's so hot in the summer so the house doesn't heat up....but Friday was 100 plus humidity so we don't even do that! Ha ha
Lots of cold salads with stir fry meats.

  4. Almost like having your own pup without the vet bills! :-) We used to make hobo dinners often at the lake. Try sprinting a pack of dry ranch dressing mix on top before baking. Oh my goodness! Delicious.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  5. I chuckled at the delinquent comment. I'm guessing Smudge is a trouble maker at times.
Your hobo dinner sounds good to me. I'll have to give it a try.

  8. We call them foil packets, load them with crumpled hamburger and lost of vegies and cook them on the grill, turning them every 10 minutes. They are done when the packets puff up and you can hear them sizzle. They are on the menu for this week.

  10. When our children were growing up, Tom and I did a lot of camping. One of the meals Tom often made was what he called Hobo Stew. It was similar to your Hobo Dinner. He learned to make it when he was a Boy Scout.

  11. Dogs are great distractors....but I don't always appreciate it when I have things I want to do!! I'd forgotten about Hobo dinners, and how good they are! We did some with Boy Scouts, and some at home with the boys. We always enjoyed the end result, whether it was with hamburger or chicken. Yum!

  12. We used to make those 'Hobo dinners' only we didn't call them that. I forget what we did call them. Mine never had meat in it
