After the photo project cleared my work space I got out the diamond squares that a blog reader sent me.
The diamonds needed to be sewn together with a mattress stitch. That is a difficult stitch but I finally conquered it... mostly.
It is a lap afghan size. It is not perfect... it will be donated to one of the stores in town that benefits people...Salvation Army Store most likely or the Dakota Boys and Girls Store. It was a cold day here, I took Far Guy to his Infusion and waited in the parking lot for him while crocheting and talking to my best friend Susie!
Supper: Far Guy browned some brats and warmed up some potatoes and corn.
Minnesota weather: High -12F or -24C Low was -24F or -31C
Weather Advisory
EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below. * WHERE...Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Minnesota and northeast and southeast North Dakota. * WHEN...Until noon CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.
Far Side
That is an interesting pattern, the way it is crocheted and stitched together makes it look 3D'ish. Someone will enjoy it, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
I don't think we have ever reached 50 below! But I don't want to enter that competition either.
ReplyDeleteI hate sewing granny squares together as mine never look smooth. This is really a neat throw. The colors create a depth allusion. Hope whoever gets it will appreciate all your work.
ReplyDeleteWe have your cold and snow. Hope you’ll come south and retrieve it.
Our winter storm is supposed to arrive this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThose diamonds are really pretty. The colors are very elegant together. Good job! Stay warm up north!!
ReplyDeleteI don't like your forecast. Keep warm. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI think your afghan is so pretty....it has that 3 dimensional look. This is some really cold weather and conditions. Sounds like the very best place to be is next to the fire... Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteWinter finally came here. Snow and cold and wind. Sigh
ReplyDeleteI like the effect of those diamond afghan squares. One more project off your list.
ReplyDeleteWith January almost done I hope you get a break in the weather soon.
Stay warm.
That diamond square afghan is great. I like how it looks like shadows. I was thinking of trying the mattress stitch for the blanket that I'm working on now. I've never done it before, but pictures I've seen look like it's a very neat join.
ReplyDeleteWe're not nearly as cold as you are but it's well below zero until Monday. we got about an inch of snow and that's it.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
It's going to be a mess out there.
ReplyDeleteGood project, and kind of you to donate it.
That is an impressive pattern! The three-D effect is really cool.
ReplyDeleteSo cold up there! We shouldn't complain about our 4°f!
Yes, it is dangerously cold here again today and tonight. Hoping we move out of this cold spell very soon. Stay in and take good care this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so nice, and yeah the three D effect is really cold
