We had some ground drifting on the way to Fargo for Far Guy's Cardiology appointment. His appointment went well, it created three more appointments in the future. He had an EKG, saw the Cardiologist and went for his six minute walk for Pulmonary. The Cardiologist wants to check out a few things so she ordered a stress test, echocardiogram and a virtual follow up appointment.
I drove and Far Guy took a couple of photos for me. Here is ground drifting...at least we could see the road. On the way back to East Grand Forks...just out of Fargo it got really icy...a couple of semi's in the ditch and several cars. Then the visibility turned to crap...really sh$##y crap. Traffic slowed into the 20 mph range...some places you could not see the fog line.
About 40 miles of really slow going...high stress driving hanging onto the steering wheel until my hands hurt. I must be an OK excellent driver because we made it to Grand Forks in one piece. We picked up our grocery order from Wally World and then headed to Perkins for supper. It was good to get out of the car and be safely indoors.
Thursday I am not leaving the house...same with Saturday and Sunday. Friday Far Guy has his Infusion so we must venture out then....but my errands are all done for the rest of the week. Jen and Andy will be gone to Ohio for four days. So it is just us and Sadie.
Supper at Perkins was a skillet breakfast for Far Guy and I had a Patty Melt on sourdough bread. ( It was lunch and supper all in one meal as we missed lunch)

You sure are one grand driver! Good lukc onwards!
ReplyDeleteOh, you always make me realize our cold is not nearly as cold as yours. I still hate it.
ReplyDeletean angel guiding you all the way no doubt...
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! 53 below is much worse than our predicted 20 below weather. I remember one year I had to wear goggles to go out and water the goats and chickens, it was that cold. Not looking forward to it, other than getting some reading done, crochet, and maybe a puzzle started. I hope they are wrong with your temps. Goodness.
ReplyDeleteI haven't spent much time on that stretch of highway but I spent more than I care driving along interstate 90 at the bottom of the state in blizzards with white knuckle grips on the wheel. That was my route for 10 years when I lived in Minnesota and needed to get some peace on the farm back in Iowa. I'm not sure many understand how bad blizzards can get down here in Iowa judging from how people drive and the frequent pileups.
ReplyDeleteGood job driving! Low/no visibility is sooo stressful. Safe travels on Friday.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people are hunkering down. The temperature at home was -31C/-24F this morning and D made the decision to keep Eli at home, nor will he be going to school tomorrow. This weather is so hard on people and on vehicles too. It's going to be a brutal number of days in many places.
ReplyDeleteYou are an excellent driver. That is stressful driving!
Stay warm!
We have a spell of weather coming up that is very cold for us. Some days will be zero for a while. My granddaughter said she would bring me fuel for the generator in case we lose electricity.
ReplyDeleteIHATE to tell you there's more Arctic air around. It's cold here now with mins 26 C and that goes all day.
ReplyDeleteSo cold!!!! We are not leaving the house until it is required!
ReplyDeleteYikes - that is definitely some white knuckle driving conditions. Glad you got home again safely. We actually did try to go to Sioux Falls yesterday afternoon for a work meeting - when the sun came out here in Mitchell. But about 15 miles east on I-90 we caught up with that snow storm and hit icy road and no visibility. Traffic was only moving about 20-30 mph. Dave got off at the first exit he could and we turned around to go home. That 5-6 miles of white out east, and then again west, had me nervous.
ReplyDeleteOH! MY! GOSH! I can NOT drive in weather like that! You are BRAVE
ReplyDeleteEKG's and echocardiograms are all in my wheelhouse. I my next one is next month. I am fortunate to be healthy otherwise, and my artificial heart valve seems to be working just fine.
ReplyDeleteThat frozen fog is horrendous. I'm so glad you made it safely.
I would have been a wreck. And windchills that far below 0? Hard to believe that it can get that cold!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it home safely through all that mess!
ReplyDeleteWe are in a storm warning here too! Saturday night 3- 5 inches of snow
Sunday 8-12 inches
Sunday night 3-5 inches
It's been years since we have had that much snow so everyone is clearing out the stores! I went to Costco and it took forever to get a parking spot. Eggs were almost gone and ready to eat foods very low. Not looking forward to this but it really is our first snow. This storm is covering quite a bit of the Country!
Amazing that you got home safely!! You are obviously a good driver. Great idea to stay home and wait out this bout of winter❄️❄️❄️.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been just yucky lately. I am happy you had a safe trip to Fargo.
ReplyDeleteStay warm dear friends these next couple of days and nights. We have to go out tomorrow for a short time too....praying for power to stay on and furnace to keep working. Take good care!
ReplyDeleteLD...The weather can change so quickly in the winter. I am glad you got back. We don't have the snow to deal with in our area but as anyone heading north your way has to deal with the blowing snow. The mailbox is the only place I am going to today.
ReplyDeleteYou are an excellent driver! 50 miles of white knuckle driving is no fun and you had a precious passenger in the car. Stay warm. You are much colder than we are here in New York State right now.
