Fun Foods

Tuesday was cooking/baking day.  Granddaughter Maddie and Brenton and the Greats are coming for supper.  The Greats are not sick at the moment so we can get together!

I made cheesecake with no crust so that it is gluten free it will be topped with cherries.

Fun foods for the Greats...

Foods for little hands...mini brownies and toast points.

The rest of the menu is a pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, baked carrots and green beans...oh yes and pickles.  But with our Greats you should almost serve the pickles as a dessert because they really like them! If they had their way they would make pickles a meal.

Minnesota weather: Sunny!  Above zero! BUT the windchill is still nasty.

  1. I'm the same as your greats, I could make pickles as a meal. However, neither of my kids were born with that gene as they actively avoid all things pickled.

  2. Kids and pickles! When my youngest was a toddler, that's all he wanted to eat. My grandma babysat the kids while I was in classes and I noticed that he stank. Like, I'd pick him up from grandma's sniff him, and throw him in the bath. I'd wash his clothes multiple times, thinking he'd spilled milk on them and it had soured. The kid just smelled sour all the time. I mentioned it to grandma after a couple of days, and she said, "its the pickles". I asked what she meant. He'd apparently decided that he needed to eat an entire jar of Vlasic pickles every day for a week. He wouldn't eat anything else, just pickles. He ate so many that the smell was oozing from his pores. LOL

  3. Hope you all enjoyed your visit! I'm certain the desserts were a hit, even if pickles are a fave.

  6. great menu you have planned. Happy you all are getting together. Same here Connie...something about pickles that my kids love. I keep pickle pops in the freezer and they crab one each time they come. Y'all enjoy!

  9. YUM!! Glad you took advantage of a day when everyone is healthy. I know that isn't happening too much this winter in my family. We have a random grandkid down with the flu again, he missed in the last round.
All your food looks delicious. Little ones like little food!

  10. So funny about the pickles. Our older grandson is the same way. He has always loved Dill pickles since he was a preschooler. He is now 13.5 years old. Vlasic chips are his favorite. I am glad you will get to see them. Thankful the parents don't expose you all. They are very much missed by grandparents when they don't get to be together though. Your menu is a gift of love for sure.

  15. It's warming up! It's warming up here too, but that means rain. Of course warm and cold are all relative, aren't they.
I'm happy for you that you had a great time cooking for, and being with your great-grands.
