Monday was a catch all day for me. Laundry and putting away "stuff." Far Guy has slept very little in the last 48 hours. It must be a side effect from the cancer meds. I try to do quiet things just incase he is asleep.
See the dark berries? Those are Chokecherries the local bear may get them sooner or later. Just did not have it in me to make jelly this year....I do have a few jars left over from two years ago. The brighter orange leaves are Virginia Creeper growing up the Chokecherry shrub/tree. The yellow leaves are the Chokecherry leaves.Supper was Hobo dinners again...what can I say it is easy with minimal cleanup. (Hamburger, Potatoes, Carrots and Cheese)
I finished the book I was reading in between Book Club reads. Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. I started the book a number of years ago and never finished it. So I read the whole book again. I give it a 7 out of a 10. Not usually the kind of book I read but nice for an inbetween book.
Far Side
I had a "catch" up day too, but like you I am not into canning much anything this year. Not sure what it is either. I need my mojo back. I finished my current book, but it took me about a month. Seems to be a very busy time of year for us here. Our weather is pretty much the 80's here too.
ReplyDeleteI sure enjoyed the chokecherry jelly you sent me a few years ago. Sending hugs to you and FG and hope he gets some sleep.
ReplyDeleteI recall picking chokecherries for jelly in the past years and making jelly. Grandma also used chokecherry to make her homemade jello which was actually pretty darned good!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for Far Guy. When you're not feeling good sleep is a nice outlet but when you can't even get that....awful. Your fall colors are gorgeous. We're just starting but it's still in the 90's! Ufda! Sorry you're not up to making jelly. I've had to forego many things I used to do but I'm still living independently so I guess I can't complain. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteOooooh, poor Far Guy & not sleeping. That is so miserable & messes up the daytime too. I continue to pray. My husband has read "Odd Thomas" too as Dean Koontz is one of his favorite authors.... and I think, at the time, he gave it about the same rating as you did, Connie.... maybe a bit lower. It wasn't his favorite Koontz book. Minimal cleanup suppers call my name too! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that the worst of the reactions to the cancer treatment were behind him now. Lack of sleep is hard on a person for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear Far Guy is having issues with his sleep. Hopefully that is a short term issue.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had chokecherry jelly for years! It was definitely one of my favorites as a child.
Oh I do hope Far Guy's sleeplessness is temporary. Our bodies need and depend on it for recovery. Yay for leftover preserves!
ReplyDeletePerhaps I missed it, but curious how you liked your other in-between book "The Life Impossible" ?? I really enjoyed the easy read (5 out of 5) and liked it better than "The Midnight Library" (4 out of 5) . Matt Haig definitely has a style.
I am still reading The Life Impossible, Jen advised to read it in bits and pieces.
DeleteWell then, I am glad I did not say more! Hmm. Interesting about the bits-n-pieces.
DeleteGreat meal: meat potatoes and veggies.
ReplyDeleteI like hobo suppers!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure when my mom had chemotherapy that she had issues with sleeplessness and was prescribed some sleeping medication.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I read anything by Koontz but I was a fan of his back in my youth.
I hope FarGuy gets some seep relief soon. Wears a person down to go without sleep, for sure.
ReplyDeleteDinner sounds so good. Hope you both do well and enjoy the cooler weather when it arrives, even if it is with rain. :)
Love the leaves! 🍂🍁
ReplyDeleteI love Hobos except we use green beans and lots of onions! Hopefully farguy can get some sleep soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us your chokeberries. They’re larger than our possum grapes. They look the size of a Poke berry. We don’t have chokeberries here in the south.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry Far Guy is having a hard time sleeping. Hope he recuperates enough soon so he can get the sleep he needs. Sleep can be a big help. Praying
ReplyDeleteMy Virginia Creeper is still very green. I look forward to it turning every Fall. ( Or maybe I have Boston Ivy?) later... I looked it up and it is Virginia Creeper that I have. Now to remember that.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see ANY chokecherries along our road this year. We were in drought so and berries that did grow were quickly eaten by the birds. Wild berries of all kinds were few and far between. The poor bears are going to be hungry
ReplyDeleteOh, I love fall and the beautiful colors. We are beginning to see a few leaves changing color. Cooler weather is coming! Hooray! I used to love Dean Koontz....but not so much any longer. Oh, my - I haven't thought about Hobo dinners for ages!
ReplyDeleteHope far guy is doing better soon, and you too. I love Hobo dinners...so good. I read part of a Dean Koontz book many years ago...didn't like it though. Enjoy the nice weather.
ReplyDeleteWe left town this morning, headed for the Oregon coast. We heard it was close to 90 in Seattle. It was 80 in Astoria on the mouth of the Columbia River, and 75 when we reached Rockaway, right on the ocean. Almost unheard of. Coolness returns tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ❤️ leaves. I hope Far Guy gets some sleep 😴
