Little Library

We stopped by to see the new Little Library.  It is really cute!  These gals are quite the carpenters and painters!!

I looked at the books but didn't take any.   Next time I will take a book to swap.

I might even have some bookmarks to share:)

  1. Those mini libraries are fun, aren't they? There are lots of them here, and every time I find one, I take a picture.
I also sometimes take a walk to different libraries.
    Greetings,

  3. Love it! I am making bookmarks to share to a program that fills these all over in our area. I visited a little library this past weekend and (gulp) brought home a book. I will be taking more books to share ha ha!

  4. This would be a great place to give books to that I don't read anymore! Love the design and that they have free bookmarks.

  5. All my books get donated to a couple who have one of those in their front yard. Evidently, word gets out because they often get people specifically coming to theirs for good non-fiction books to read. Sometimes when I haven't donated in awhile, they go up to their door and ask when they will get more non-fiction books which results in a call to me and me bringing another box of books down.

Once a year, our town has a book sale fundraiser for the local library where books get donated and sold cheaply back to the public. I help sort the books into categories before the sale to make it easier for the public to find a book. I am always thrilled to find a dozen or two of my books that have made it from my shelf, to my friends little library to the tables of the book sale fundraiser. I know because I have a habit of writing my name on any book I read.

  6. It is very cute! One of the things I like about visiting the kids in Oakland, CA is the number of little libraries. When I walk from our condo to my son's house I pass two of them and my son also has one in front of his house. It was a multi-generational project; Mr. Dreamy, my son, the kids and the other grandmother all participated in making it and decorating it. I was the cheerleader!

  7. Awwww..... how wonderful. We have those around town too, especially in front of the schools. There's a food one too, with all sorts of canned goods & things. I hope yours is water-tight when it rains. Love, Andrea xoxo

  8. That Little Free Library looks so cute! One of my friends who moved to Cedar Rapids IA a few years ago always wanted to make one. They put one up in their neighborhood after moving there. The only one I've actually seen here in Mitchell is in one of the main parks, not far from the swimming pool. Such a great idea!

  10. There are several free library set-ups in the city, but I've never stopped at one. It is a great idea and a nice way to find interesting books to read.

  13. I think these are such a great idea. We have a few food bank types, but they are not kept very well stocked.

  14. We have one at the end of the street. I stock up there in late fall, when it's more difficult for me to get down to the library.

  16. Your book marks will be works of art like the special card you sent me. I sure appreciate getting an uplift. It’s hot and miserable here. 102 today.

  17. What a sweet little library. That reminds me to take a book or two along when I go walking. There's a little library right nearby.

  18. I would love to have a little library here, but I don't think anyone would ever stop for it :-(.

  19. I just dropped off at a little library today. One of the churches has two library boxes - one for children. I had some outgrown picture books and some unused homeschool workbooks from the pandemic days. And I had 4 sets of flashcards for counting, colors, abc"s and animals that I am hoping a family will enjoy, too.
