Yesterday would have been my Father In law's birthday.
This was his last birthday on earth, he died a couple of weeks later from complications after a simple surgery...they called it multi system failure...he was 80 years old.
In the photo Far Guy, Marvin and Jen....three generations. As I recall we had angel food cake with berries to celebrate. Marvin was a wonderful man who we still miss very much.
Far Side
80 seems young from my ancient vantage point of 82. I hope he is still celebrating his birthday here on earth while he enjoys his life in heaven.
ReplyDeleteMarvin’s been gone over 30 years. I never knew my husband’s father, but his mother was a wonderful friend to me. Angel food cake is a fav of mine.
ReplyDeleteHaving pictures of 3 (or more) generations is such a treasure.
ReplyDeleteI had a fantastic father-in-law, too. He had such great common sense and a soft heart for his children and grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for his loss. Sad memories.
ReplyDeleteHe looks jaunty in the photo! Memories......
ReplyDeleteThere are some that you never stop missing. I thought that was you, Connie, not Jen. You were both cuties!
ReplyDeleteMy FIL passed away when he was only 62. He had terrible cancer that he valiantly fought for several years. He was a love and we both still miss him. Sadly, he died before he could meet boys.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. 80 doesn't seem so old to me now. It must have been a huge shock to you and especially to Far Guy.
ReplyDeleteI wish him a happy heavenly birthday. Sadly, we never know when having surgery what the results will be but I know this was a huge shock for you all. My FIL is 96 years old and as healthy as can be. He does get his stories mixed up from time to time, but I can only imagine me being 96, what kind of shape my mind will be. Blessings and hugs to you, FG and the family.
ReplyDeleteWe never forget those important people in our lives. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo and the memories that come with it. I chuckled at his position; one leg casually over the arm of the chair.
ReplyDeleteWe usually remember the birthdays.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow, Aug 15th, would have been my Dad's birthday, 108. He has been gone a long time. My grandkids never knew him.
