Far Guy gets to have coffee with his Infusion every week. The nurses sometimes take time to have "Coffee with Gene."
They take really good care of him.
Lynn said "Gene is so smart" so he asked for it in writing. We over did on Friday early Doctors appointment and 7 hours in the car....and paid for it Friday night into Saturday. We missed our Great Nieces Grad Party on Friday night and our neighbors Barn Dance on Saturday evening.
We are old. No I didn't say getting..we are old.
Minnesota weather on Saturday: High 75F or 24C Low 49F or 10C eh. We had some thunderstorms that dropped a bit of rain Saturday evening....they disturbed my evening nap.
Supper was what is in the freezer. Far Guy had Jambalaya and I had scalloped potatoes.

Aw, that is so sweet with the note. Sorry to hear you got worn out with travel and doctor visits. I hope you both get some rest and revive a bit.
ReplyDeleteFunny! I once had to ask a nurse for a note saying that indeed I DID have a heart!
ReplyDeleteWith all that you guys have going on, it is exhausting more than just being ... old.
That is funny! Sometimes when Barb says something complimentary, I too will ask for it in writing!
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on "being old"! I am as slow as a slug but I am ambulatory and although I take a lot of "breaks" I still manage to get stuff done....just not as much as I used to plus I have a lawn guy now and a cleaning gal that I am very grateful for. We always knew you were smart Far Guy! Sorry you missed the shindigs.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you had to go so far for the infusion. You probably have to do all the driving. How exhausting.
ReplyDeleteOn Thursdays the Infusion Center is only 20 minutes away, the Doctors appointment on Friday was 2 1/2 hour drive one way.
DeleteAwwwww Connie, I'm so sorry you folks had to miss the grad party & barn dance. I hate getting "robbed" of joy in my life because of medical issues. It happens to me too. Sending hugs your way~ Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteSometimes ordinary stuff is a challenge for us elderly. The smart guy did bounce back.
ReplyDeleteIt's not fun that you missed the fun stuff because of all of the not fun stuff. but at least FG's note was fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe note is funny! Seven hours away from home is a lot for anyone. Hope you get some good rest.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer that you had to miss some fun after a day of "doctoring" and driving. Getting old isn't for sissies. It's awesome that Gene's wonderful nurses can make that weekly infusion a bit of a social event too.
ReplyDelete7 hours can sure take a toll on the body.....when I ride for just a couple hours in the car, my knees ache like crazy...7 hours would do me in. Sorry you missed the barn dance. This was a cute note and I know that FG loved it....It's nice to be a little spoiled especially when you have to have infusions...he has some caring nurses.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great note!! I'm sorry that you had to miss all of the fun, but you have to pace yourself and know when to rest.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
We are finding the same thing - one day's over activity means two days at home. Keeping up with grandkids is getting exhausting. I try to push myself, I feel guilty that the little ones aren't getting the same gramma as the ones who came 12 years before. But then I pay for it.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to miss both the grad and the barn dance. That note is cute💗.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sweet that the nurses have "Coffee with Gene" during his infusions. That note from Lynn is truly special. I hope you and Far Guy are feeling more rested after your busy Friday.

Love the note :-D
ReplyDeleteI suspected he is smart, but it's sure cool to see the proof!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that the long day wore you out for two days. I really am. However it makes us feel better knowing that it is fairly normal for the body to react like that at our age. This past year, we have been getting concerned about ourselves as we were evaluating how long we can run errands- - especially on a hot day - - before we are 'wiped out'. It is 2-3 errands max and two hours is best but can sometimes stretch to three. It is discouraging but we keep saying at least we are still upright and going.
ReplyDeleteFood two days ago - - Chicken Parm without crumbs, Green Beans, Rice. Yesterday - roll your own. Bill had canned Campbell's Chunky Soup. I had a (Foster Farms GF Chicken) . . . Corn Dog (very yummy) and nibbled on things like boiled eggs, deli meat, and cheese throughout the day.
