Sunday report

I am kept busy taking care of Far Guy and Chance.

Yesterday Chance and I started our day with a brisk walk to the mailbox, even though it was Sunday and there is no mail.  It was too cold to take him along to town…so he pouted as we left him behind.

We decided that we would have breakfast in town before Far Guys Coumadin test and chat with the Doctor.  Burger King’s biscuits with bacon egg and cheese…we haven’t had that in years. We dined in the car at the old beach in town.

Far Guy is slowly regaining some strength.  SLOWLY.  Nothing seems to move fast enough for him. When I dropped him off at the Clinic doors he took a wheel chair and began to walk over to the hospital…I practically had to run to catch up with him and insist that he ride not walk.

I stopped at a local farm store for a big sack of Thistle Seed, the checkout lady said “You must have Redpolls too, they will eat you out of house and home.” Far Guy waits in the car and listens to tunes.

On the way home I decided that I would make a big pan of lasagna since Far Guy hasn’t much of an appetite and he likes lasagna.  I got it all put together and in the fridge ready to put in the oven after a long nap.  It made enough for four meals for us, one for later this week and two freezer meals.

I hope we can all stay out of the hospital this week.  I am not sure what the week will bring other than blood tests and doctors appointments…and maybe a bit of house cleaning.

Thanks for the update. It sounds like things are going as well as could be expected. Sending prayers still.

Things seem to be progressing along in a positive direction. Good!! So glad to hear that. Hope it is a good week. :)

The thing with Far Guy and the wheelchair made me laugh. Glad he's doing well enough to be doing things like that.

Hope making a meal he really likes encouraged him to eat.

All the best. SPouses can be difficult patients, can't they?!

That is good news that Far Guy is slowly recovering. He and you are in my daily prayers. Why is it that spouses make such difficult patients?

Slow but steady progress, at least you're finally heading in the right direction. Take care of yourself too, along with Chance and Far Guy. Naps are good for everyone.

It sounds like things are looking up and heading in the right direction... which is always a positive thing, no matter how slow the progress seems. Yes, staying out of the hospital is sometimes the biggest feat of all. xxx

I do hope you don't have to take him back to the hospital, it's so easy to get sicker there. I cringe when I have to go to the ER for anything. I'm happy that he is improving even if it isn't fast enough for him, and will keep the knee mail ascending.

Looking after someone changes your routine and adds a little stress. Your time is not your own.

I am thinking of you both. And I hope Far Guy can be a little bit patient. I am not. I was very ill last March/April and have struggled to get better partly because I find it so hard to be patient.
Make sure you take care of you too.

Getting out of the house for anything, except maybe doctor visits, is a good thing.

One day at a time. Even slow progress is progress. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

good to hear that you have some normalcy - happy you are "all" home. Continue getting better!

I can understand the need for a break...and a warm up in weather will also help!

Recovering slowly is better then not recovering at all

Trying to get a man to actually sit in a wheelchair and be pushed is not easy!

I'd have to an automated one as there is no one to push me...although I could probably get a harness for Nitty and she could pull me but her legs are bad. Glad to hear you are cooking lasagna.....yum! I'm hungry now! Glad to hear things are at least stable and I pray they just get better this week.

You three are doing so very well despite your assorted trips to the hospital. Thank you for the wonderful pictures too.
