Sorting

I spent the afternoon sorting beads.  I have a few projects that I would like to do at a retreat at the end of the month and I wanted to get some supplies together. Sorting beeds can be done with your left hand.  I am getting better at using my right elbow too…it can shut doors.

Far Guy is like a General..no sweeping acorns…he hollers… enough!  He says I must be getting better because I am argumenative.  He says when I am really sick/in pain I don’t argue a bit…he also asked if I was ready to do the other hand yet?  Nope not so much…I hope it never requires surgery.

A family member suggested that I tape my arm to my body.  Another one asked “Why in the world were you doing dishes?’  duh…cause they were dirty?

See neat and orderly…those black ones in between the red ones might get moved…my OCD/CDO may take over.

Two packets ready to go to retreat. I must have been in a pink/green mood.

I am not certain that I will be able to use my hand enough to stamp Christmas Cards at retreat, watercolor and assembly perhaps but stamping takes a bit of motion that causes me pain.  I have some stamped but I know I don’t have 120 of them stamped…I may have to recruit my most handsome handy husband to help me one day next week.

My hand is better, but it still insists on swelling and is painful when used too much.  I am trying to take it as easy as I can.

It always amazes me what we can learn to do with our opposite hand. Please just take it easy and let you hand heal. When I need help, I have finally learned to put my pride aside and ask for it. That is a hard thing to do but I use my "advancing age" as a great excuse. Haha. Praying for a speedy recovery for you. Have a great weekend.

Getting cranky is a good sign! It means you're on the road to recovery.

Glad to hear you are learning how to live almost one-handed. I am glad you posted this. I have been wondering how you are doing. A healing hand is one of those parts of our body that really complains if we try to push it when it isn't ready to be pushed.

My hands ailment would not allow me to sort beads. I am on the third day trying to get my hands to heal up. They will get better but someone has to load the dishwasher.

Hard not to use a dominant hand. When I broke my wrist last fall even though is was my left, not my dominant it was hard not to use it.

Wish I could have had a hand in helping you sort those beads. Now that's my kind of work. Those look so neat and pretty. I'm like you though, the colors have to look just right. I drive myself crazy with things like that. Glad your hand is getting better. Seems like stamping would make it hurt.

What you have been going through with your hand sounds just awful, but I think you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now! I still have bead containers like that somewhere, but haven't used them in years. I used to add them to the zipper pulls of fleece pullovers and vests I sewed and sold, and also to the drawstrings on some fleece hats. So hard when you have to be careful with your dominant hand. Larry is suffering with bad back spasms right now, so can't do much, but has been able to sit at the table and shell walnuts. HIs version of sorting beads I guess ;-) Hope for quick continued healing for you!

We can trade one-handed tips! General Far Guy is still a keeper. Gosh, he steps up! I'm glad you have a fun retreat in your plans.

A sling works wonders. I used one after my wrist injury. Keeps your hand up and reminds you not to use it. Can get one at a drugstore, I believe.

Yes, your handsome Other Half is definitely a keeper. It does sound like it's getting better, even with all your overdoing. :-)

Those beads look so pretty it's almost a shame not to display them somehow.

I can imagine how hard it is not to do things that need doing. Good thing you have Far Guy to watch you don't overdo.

I'm glad you are behaving. I know it is hard when you are so used to being busy and useful.

Just the thought of sorting all those beads makes me break out in a sweat. Well, at least you got some practice being ambidextrous!

Ouch! It must be difficult to not use your hand. I don't know what I would do as I don't have a handsome husband to help me out and the girls aren't that good with their paws. LOL! The retreat sounds like fun and I am loving your beads!
