Happy 4th of July!

Not sure what we will do today.

There is a parade in town, but with all the people and traffic I am not sure we will go.

It is “no left turn season” in town.   Tourists clog up the streets, especially making left hand turns….you don’t even have to see the out of State license plate to know they are tourists.

Last year my Dad was one of The Grand Marshalls of the parade so that was a good reason to fight the crowds.

I have a rack of ribs and a salad planned for our picnic that will probably be at our usual supper time.

A quiet day at home to finish up a few projects seems good to me.  And a nap.

However you choose to celebrate the day I wish you a Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July to you too! It's not been quiet here for a week....lots of tourists here too and they've been shooting off 'big boomers' but my house is well insulated so the noise doesn't bother me and they're always done by the time I turn out the lights. The dogs have never been bothered either which is nice.
The ribs sound good! I have some in the freezer....thanks for the reminder!

I'm going for a walk with the ladies this morning, off into the woods, and then I'll treat myself to ice cream at some point today! Have a great holiday, and give yourself a big hug for me, okay? :-)

It will be a low-key day here, too. Happy Independence Day.

We like watching "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS. It is usually some great music and fireworks - - - no mosquitoes or rain and you can control the volume!

Happy Fourth of July! I'm planning a very low key day and a lawn mowing for late morning - when the dew has evaporated.

Will be a quiet one here, too--just me and Annie (getting used to living here with me). Happy 4th! :)

Happy 4th to you both. We always talk about going somewhere to watch the fireworks, but end up staying home. Probably safer that way. Your last post reminded me of the neighbors that used to live in the woods on the back side of our pond. They were shooting off bottle rockets and the darn things were landing all around in our yard. We were afraid one would start a fire.

Happy 4th to you and your family! We are having a quiet day at home as well. (well, maybe not so quiet since there is an abundance of fireworks surrounding us)

Have a great fourth of July. We don't have to have a big party to note the significance of the occasion.

We've got those 'no-left-turn' days too, in fact we just avoid going into town at all! Tourists jam the main road Friday evenings and Sunday evenings as they head north from the city.

Hope you had a glorious, safe and quiet Fourth. I know it sure sounded delicious ;)

I love the idea of going out and mingling with crowds of happy families on the 4th. But, I hate the parking issues... and those same crowds. It seems easier just to enjoy our home and get things done around here.

Iowa decided to make some tax money by allowing the sale of fireworks. Truckloads were sold at grocery store parking lots. Quiet it was not as if they had turned loose a bunch of children. The fireworks were going off at about every fourth house all over the neighborhood. A few even shot them off at midnight just to be cute. We did have dogs and chili and watched a movie for our entertainment.
