Projects

I finally finished up my ongoing greeting card project for now.  I think I made about 75 cards.  I did not count.  I made a list of what photos I am out of and some ideas for new photos for future cards. I would never remember what I needed… hence the list.  I use two or three cards every week.
Cards finished
As I was organizing the last of the left over photos I found a pattern for a baby blanket.  Guess that must be a sign that it should be the next project.  Yarn shopping is on my list of things to do!

I can see the top of my desk again.   I have a couple of cards ready to write in and a photo to hang on the wall someplace.  The photos in that big black box and the little red box  need to be double checked for names and dates…

I got an email the other day, it was from Staples.  I had been to their website looking at computer chairs.  They had the sister chair to a chair we had that was getting real worn.

I told Far Guy, he said order them, they were half price and delivery was free.  No  trying to figure out how the dog and boxes with chairs would fit in the vehicle.  I held the door open for the UPS driver and he put them inside on the landing.  In an hour we had the new ones put together without too much cussing and the old ones went to my garage to be sold.  Far Guy said “I hope those are the last chairs I have to deal with for a long time.”

These are a lighter brown than the old ones and the back is shorter…but they sit just fine.

I started two new projects that were kinda on my list.  Cousin Verniel is sharing a bunch of old obituaries that she has, I will transcribe them and enter them one by one at Find A Grave.  I began a new carving project, a gift for someone special and Far Guy is working on a new flower design that is just breathtaking. Someday I will share the results.  As with any new design we work together to see what will work and what needs to be tweaked.

Our daughter Jen says my projects are all “self induced” …I suppose they are.  Winters are long in Minnesota.

Glad to hear that you are getting some of your projects out of the way. Projects in winter are better than just sitting around, starring out the window and getting lazy. Love your new chair. Have a great weekend.

Your cards are really nice! Maybe sell them at a craft fair? As for yarn, of course I like to shop local, but last summer found the great shop that used to be a Ben Franklin, is now Hometown, in downtown Detroit Lakes. It has lots of fabric, not certain about yarn, but probably! Across the street a bit is another beautiful quilt shop, too. Good luck on your projects and that is a great chair!

I know how nice your cards are, since I won some in one of your drawings years ago. My favorite has always been that pretty yellow lady's slipper, the one you still use as your profile picture. And that is a nice computer chair! :-)

Such a fun way to share your pretty photos. I beat you -- I got my desk cleared off last Friday when company arrived for the weekend (my desk is in the guest room so I had no choice!). I'm kind of proud of myself though as it is still looking good a week later! Hope you enjoy your new chairs

It's the "self-induced" projects that are the most enjoyable.

I've avoided those "self-induced" projects for years unless they involved "hunting, fishin or gardening. The "honey dew" projects have be more difficult to avoid though Lord I've tried...:)

I'm endlessly self-induced, myself. I recently discovered that just sitting and staring at the TV bores me to no end. I am used to working on projects and am glad to be headed in that direction again. The chairs look great. Can hardly wait to see the woodcarving designs. You send out so many beautiful cards! I am honored to have been a recipient. :)

Is there anything you can't do? Honestly, you get so much done. Your cards are beautiful...I have a few of them. :)

I find the hardest thing for me and projects, is just getting started. Even with projects I enjoy. You seem like a very organized person, which is the opposite of me!

John and I recently both bought new office chars that we "live" in daily! We drove to the next town and they loaded them for us. Needless to say, the unloading (with just the 2 of us) did not go as smoothly! I love the cards that you made. I'll be interested in seeing the new carving projects. It's a great service you do for Find A Grave. Between tremors and allergies, I don't accomplish much these days. I am grateful for blogging and the joy blog friends share. Have a nice weekend.

Your photo cards are lovely. I make photo cards, but just individually, and make up verses to fit the receiver. I made one today for Jill's birthday tomorrow.
As winter continues to blast us with cold rain, I have been working in inside projects too. Today I got the income taxes finished and filed. I am always happy when that is done.

The best projects are self-induced! They are sure better than the ones thrust upon us - - like taxes - - - or filling out doctors' forms - - - AGAIN! I don't know who thought it was a good idea to do that every year (doctors' offices).
I love that you post your projects. It really is encouragement and motivation to many of us. Also, it gives me a sense of "calm" in the sense that something unfinished is completed.
