Layers and a Movie

There are layers of dirt from the snirt storm last week.

dirty snow

I got the patio cleared off so it doesn’t track in the house so bad.

winter wonderland

Not exactly a winter wonderland.

Here is the snowstick, still about two inches of snow.

Snowstick

The wind was cold again yesterday.  I was cold after being outside so I went to the couch with a warm corn bag and covered up with only my eyes poking out to watch a movie on Netflix.  Sometimes I just watch the first movie that comes up…yesterday it was The Great Gilly Hopkins and I give it five out of five stars. Well worth watching.  Then I watched part of A Series of Unfortunate Events a Limminy Snickets TV Series…there were some snakes, I shut my eyes so many times I fell asleep.

It will be a hard week, I don’t like the time change but perhaps we can begin our after supper rides again since it will be lighter in the evening.

Remember to change the batteries in your smoke alarms.  We change our batteries twice a year…no matter what…why wait for the chirping?? no sense taking a chance….you are worth it.   Check the expiration date on your Smoke Detectors…they should be replaced every ten years. We got some new ones last Spring and marked them with the month and year they went into service.  We have Carbon Monoxide Detectors too because we have a LP Fireplace and Furnace.

Thank you for the reminder about smoke alarms. Yes, I look forward to being able to see to walk Theo at night time now. I know how Chance likes his rides after supper.

I think we will be watching a movie today as it is supposed to rain all day, and a cold rain it is, too. I didn't know Gilly Hopkins had been made into a movie. It was an important book for middle schoolers when it came out, probably fifteen or more years ago.

I remember the snirt when I lived in Saskatchewan. It was awful.

Thanks for the movie update. I will watch it, and maybe The Dessmaker with Kate Winslet. Another rainy day. :-)

Don't worry! Your snirt is going to get covered with fresh snow! LOL! Thanks for the movie tip...I always enjoy the ones you recommend. I am binge watching When Call The Heart and love it! We had snow yesterday....one and only this year...it will be gone soon I'm sure but I enjoyed it. The sun is shining today and it is falling off the trees.

How I wish our country didn't feel the need to mess with time twice a year!

Hate DST messing with my life.
We're supposed to get snow today but I don't see any yet.
Been binge watching the latest season of Rectify and just finished Bomb Girls.
Nice weather for binge watching and doing laundry. ;)

Snirt sounds awful! I watched Get Low with Bill Murray & Robert Duvall, excellent movie about hermit throwing his own funeral party while alive. Good actors and story.

It is cold again here so movie watching has been a past time again for now . I am soo looking forward to spring finally arriving after the snow storm we are to get hit by lol ! hoping it goes way up north of us like it usually does and misses us or if not it melts fast as the land is warmer . I don't mind the time change so much as I am retired and do like the longer day light so much more . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !

Do you make your own corn bag or did you buy it? I have one I think is rice? Don't know. It was given to me and is the most fabulous thing ever - - - especially if/when I get a leg cramp in the middle of the night (caused by arthritis).

The weather this year has been so crazy. We had Spring like weather in February and now winter like in March with snow all day yesterday! Thanks for the smoke alarm reminder! We changed ours and bought a new one for our basement plus a new Carbon Monoxide Detector for upstairs. You are so right - no reason to take a chance.

I read "The Great Gilly Hopkins" a long time ago, when I was looking for good literature for kids to read. It is a wonderful story.

Snirt storm! You make me laugh. To be so beautiful, can't snow make the dirtiest mess? Our little sprinkle of snow has come and gone, thank goodness! Thank you for the reminder.

I bought corn at the feed store and fashioned my own bags out of a loon pattern fabric that is flannel :) We have rice bags too, either works just fine! :)

You're right about the smoke detectors being replaced at ten years. Good advice. I did mine last year, so we're set for a bit. The CO detector is a little older, but good to go for a while. Good reminder about the batteries, too. I don't wait for the chirp - never know what time of that that will start. I just do it. Lots of new snow here in the cities today.

We took our kids to the Lemony Snickets movie when it came out years ago, and none of us liked. I have never been a Jim Carey fan, but the whole thing was just weird, not my thing at all.
