Nuts

I cleaned out part of a cupboard.  Found some old peanuts in the shell that tasted horrible they were so old.  Far Guy sat them on the bench outside.  The gray squirrels must think we will poison them but the brown/black squirrel is not afriad.

One by one they disappeared.

Nuts Feb 12

He would grab one and take off and be back about three minutes later, he must have taken them to his nest in the trees on the east side of the house.  He entertained us for quite some time.

It was 49F here yesterday, we are melting!   You can see the ground at the edge of the road and black spots in the fields.

I am certain that winter is not over, this is probably just a lull before a big storm that will jerk us back to reality.

I happened across my Aunt Elenor’s obituariy and entered it at Find A Grave.  Luckily I maintain that grave.  The local Find A Grave gal has been taking the last six months year off so nothing is getting updated.  Really frustrating for me.  I can still add photos but obits are just sitting in her emails as are requests for tranfers…NUTS.

  1. That guy would really stand out against the snow. The fact that he is squirreling those nuts away -- probably means he agrees with your prediction: winter isn't over yet. Enjoy it while you can!

  4. That is the prettiest squirrel I have ever seen! He/she has a beautiful coat. I think you will get an early Spring as the robins are here in full force for the last 2 weeks and so are the daffodils...outside work is beginning and I have been hanging clothes on the line outside. In fact, I think the robins have come and gone already!

  5. I am glad to know the peanuts were recycled. I think we still have some winter weather ahead of us. :-)

  6. Maybe you could take over the Find the Grave for her. It's very important to have steady input for Find a Grave to be useful! GRRRR

  7. No nut is wasted when you have squirrels! We used to have black squirrels when I lived in Black Diamond Alberta, they used to use the high wires as a highway from house to house.Cute li'l rascals.

  8. It's been warm here too. Most of our snow is gone. Now we get rain and snow!

  9. We're having similar temps and our snow is also rapidly disappearing. Here it is not unreasonable to expect no more snow but then this year is definitely an aberration. Who knows what is yet to come!!

  10. It is very warm here. We will pay for it as there is always a balance in some way to the temperatures act. I was able to pull up one of my Christmas deer decorations today as the stakes had been frozen into the ground.

  12. For Find A Grave, you can always request that family memorials be transferred to you. That way, you wouldn't have to wait for some other volunteer to add the obits you are finding.

Hope you don't get slammed with another storm. Who knows? This weather is not the usual. Here, it is just rain, rain, rain...never-ending. We are on the verge of flooding, but thankfully, we get enough breaks to keep one step ahead of disaster :)
