To The Movies

Adam our youngest Grandson is here to spend a few days with us.

We watched Back To The Future III in the afternoon…although I slept through all most of it.
He wanted spaetzle for supper so that is what I fixed for him.  He always helps with dishes and knows where most of them go in the cupboards too!

Shortly after supper Adam and I headed for the Movies. Ghost Busters.  Adam gave it 7.5 out of 10 stars I gave it a 5 …it was loud and hardly had a plot.

On the way home we talked about our favorite movies.  Adams are Guardians of the Galaxy and Back to the Future II, mine were Fried Green Tomatoes and Where The Red Fern Grows.  I guessed that Far Guy would choose 2001 A Space Odyssey…I was wrong.  He picked The Green Beret with John Wayne.  Adam says he has no idea what his Dad’s favorite movie is but his Mom really liked Super Eight.

Adam is an easy keeper, half the time we don’t know we have a teenager in the house.  He does surface regularly for sustenance.

What a great time with your grandson! I love spaetzle and have a recipe for meatballs and spaetzle. My favorite movie is also Green Fried Tomatoes....Tawanda!!! Love the parking lot scene...I never grow tired of that movie. I read Where the Red Fern Grows but I'll have to watch the movie now. I've never heard of Super Eight although when I took the position in Iowa from IL I stayed in one for 6 months going home on weekends until our house sold in IL. They are great...clean, reasonable and friendly and there was a Wendy's right next door. I had no idea there was a movie! LOL! I hope I live long enough to see my grandchildren grow up but I am enjoying them little right now although they are growing fast! Have a nice Sunday!

Sounds like a great time with your grand. I think of that Fried Green Tomatoes parking lot scene once in a while when I get cut off for a spot. Not sure I could pick one favorite movie, though. Spaetzle, yum! Good choice, Adam!

I love that your grandsons still like to stay with you as teenagers! I hope mine will still think I'm a fun Nana by then. I have been taking care of my youngest (2 1/2) for a week whle his parents are in Washington and we have had lots of fun and I need a three-day nap!

When we have watched every CD twice or more times and we are desperate like last night, we watch Guardians of the Galaxy. Our youngest son gave it to us at Christmas time a couple of years back. It is his favorite and he truly wanted us to share his liking of it. We have grown to like it and actually understand the plot now. We saw our two grandsons last night on facetime and that was fantastic.

Favorite movies? Out of Africa and Bridge on the River Kwai.

Great bonding time with your grandson. Good for you for engaging him in interesting and meaningful conversation. It can be tricky.
FAvorite movie? I can't decide, but it would be a lot more like your favorites than those of your husband or grandson.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a great movie but I confess I had to watch it about 10 times before I got a handle on the plot! Great soundtrack too. I believe there is to be a sequel so looking forward to that.

But I think my favourite movie ever is Top Hat with Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers.

I have never heard of Where The Red Fern Grows (found it on Netflix streaming) or Super Eight (can't find even on imdb). I would probably agree with you on the new Ghostbusters movie--LOL! My favorite movie is It's A Wonderful Life. I saw it the first time as a teen during a very difficult time and it gave me hope that maybe my life was worth something even if I didn't realize it and couldn't see it. That movie gives me hope on a soul level every time I see it, so I wait and savor it every Christmas (even though I have a copy).

Adam just looks like a good grandson to spend time with. Fried Green Tomatoes is one of my favorite movies too.

Any teenage boy would "surface regularly for sustenance." :)

Glad you had such a nice visit.

I've never cooked spaetzle, but I had a friend who often included it in her meals. Delicious! How great that you have such a happy relationship with your grandson!

I don't think I've ever even tasted spaetzle. I pondered what would be my favorite movie, and I always come back to The Shawshank Redemption. :-)

How fun for you guys to have him there for a while and even cooler when he's an easy keeper.

I loved this post! I will have to ask my grands what their favorite movies of all time are. I am not really into movies so I wouldn't be able to pick! Maybe because of what you said about falling asleep during them!!
