Spring Emerges

The forest fire smoke finally left our area, we got some rain, not sure how much as I keep forgetting to get out the rain guage.  It has been cool, the furnace still comes on several times a day. We will have freezing morning temperatures over the weekend…it is opening Fishing Weekend….traffic in town has increased.Hummer at the feeder

Our first Hummer showed up on May 11, 2016.  He/she should have a little down filled parka.

Far Guys Lilac may bloom in May this year!

One day I worked on spring cleaning the kitchen, I am maybe 1/4 done.  At this rate I will be done in a month.

My Fern-leafed  Peony might have a tiny bud.  Larry from Iowa sent me this plant a number of years ago.

We have the Oriole Feeder out with grape jelly…so far they are a no show.

Garage Sale season has started!  One of our favorite activities!

From what I can figure from your writings, I live roughly straight north of you in Canada. Am roughly twenty miles from the border. I agree with you about the smoke, though they were telling us that the smoke was from the Fort McMurray fire and not the ones to the east. The one at Caddy Lake, makes me sad as it was one of our favorite places to camp or go for the day. It has taken out a train station that was 102 years old. We are 32F-0C this morning and will be -3C tonight. We are to have those blasted strong north winds today. Have a great day.

We have been having warmer than normal temperatures, but I got to visit the High Country and play in the snow yesterday! The knee is much better and I was glad to find out I can navigate those tough hikes. Glad to hear that spring is finally coming to your area. :-)

It's hard to imagine the cold right now with 80+ degree days and that durned humidity...also all these horrible storms. I miss living up north sometimes, but I don't miss the long, long winters. ND was not bad, but Labrador was downright polar!

A hummer already? I never seen one in this area until mid-June.

I'm still moving my plants into the garage at night and probably will continue for a couple of weeks until it's consistently warm at night.

It is so interesting to see when spring arrives in different locales. Our lilacs look like your lilacs, but down in town (about 400 feet lower) they are in full bloom.

So glad you're getting Spring! It's cooled off here which is good as I need to mow this weekend and before the storms came through it was 88 and humid! It's only 65 this morning and 61 in Iowa where my kids live so not much difference. Low 70's and low humidity is my perfect weather and that's what we had yesterday.

Great photos! Especially of the hummingbird. Who doesn't love them? (except other hummers, fighting for the same feeder. LOL)

Your spring is emerging like normal. Cold and then hot . Ya throw in some smoke too. Meanwhile some plants are making progress.

Another great hummer photo! And a fern-leafed peony! I have never seen one. Thanks for sharing about that. Does it have a scent? Have fun at your garage sales! I hit one yesterday.

Seems like I was just running the AC when it was 90 and now we have freeze warnings for the weekend. LOL! Hope all the buds and little hummers will be okay. :)

We start out the day in the low 50's and today reached 81 again. Cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon. But not freezing, not even close.
We actually NEED rain.

I suppose the frost will get it tonight. It sleeted/dnowed today. Yes the Fern-leafed Peony does smell like other peonies. It also blooms earlier:)

Garage sales are so much fun because you never know what you'll find that you can't resist.
My garden should have at least one Hummingbird you'd think but no. I keep watching though.

I would not have guessed that was a peony!
