Road Trip

Cabin Fever got the best of us, we admit it, our four walls were getting mighty boring.  We didn’t go far. Just headed to a few antique shops that we hadn’t been to since last summer. Our weather turned cold with a raw wind so although it looked nice outside it wasn’t.

On the way we saw.
Antique Shop
A bottle sculpture outside one of my favorite shops.  They remember me there. “Hey I remember you, you are the old lady that writes a blog about old photos.”  Yessiree that would be me.  I like this shop, old photos are a dollar each.  I came out with just a few!  Some great mystery photos too!

Us Air Force
As we passed Airplane Hanger Row over in the ritzy part of the State I noticed this unique part of a plane…I wonder what they use it for? It is on a trailer.  Maybe it is a playhouse for grandkids or maybe they pull it in parades.

We ended up in another little town that hasn’t quite awakened from winter yet.  Most shops there open May 1st but three nice shops were open and we had a fun afternoon walking around and enjoyed breakfast for dinner/supper.  Far Guy had eggs with the works and I had a blueberry hotcake big as a plate. Traffic in that little tourist trap is horrid, although some of the shops were closed everyone that had a car was in town….and it isn’t even summer yet.

We moseyed on home, the traffic got less and less, calmer and quieter.

Hi, I love the bottle tree. Some days, we go stir crazy and get out and walk thru a few thrift stores. Your blueberry hotcake sounds delicious! You commented about Brooke's pups.....there was one female in the litter and she looked like a Sheltie but Brooke said she was the loudest among the 4 - not good for condo living!

We drove all over creation yesterday on a wild goose chase looking for a switch for our very old breaker box. It involved a lot of traffic we aren't used to, especially when we waited through eight cycles of the only stop light in town to make a left turn because an accident traffic had diverted traffic through our little town from a major highway. Where was the town cop who should have been directing traffic? At the all you can eat barbecue buffet that's only open Thursday-Saturday having lunch! How do I know? His car was there when we finally got through all the traffic by making a left turn and narrowly avoiding a semi that couldn't wait for a green light and just kept coming through on red!
Your drive sounded like a lot more fun!

Lots of interesting sights on your road trip - the partial plane is a real mystery. Glad you had a nice day.

Fun day. A friend of mine puts out a smaller version of that bottle tree in the summer (bottle bush?) The best part, of course, is emptying the bottles first.

I like the bottle tree, too. And it's always good to get out, isn't it? I drove over to a new garden store yesterday and bought some fun things like mushroom compost.. :-)

Know what you mean about cabin fever, sometimes you've just got to get out and go.

A trip like this should keep the cabin fever away for a few days.

I love those bottle trees! Good for you...out and about. It got colder and windy here too but today is sunny and regardless of the temp I need to work outside....the grass is a foot tall in places...I'm already behind!

I love the bobber, too. And I sure know what you mean about cabin fever, or spring fever. Sounds like you had a good time getting out and about.

It sure helps to get out. I've got cabin fever too. Just sick of being down with my back. Getting out to buy groceries would be fun right now. Glad you enjoyed the day.

What interesting little places you have within a day's drive. Although the traffic would make driving stressful. I don't do well with a lot of traffic I'm afraid.

Trips out and about make me super happy. I don't even care if we have a town to drive through, I just love to go for drives. It sounds like you two had a fabulous day! Hope FG is feeling better.

Love the bobber water tower! It's pictured in the 'Weird Minnesota' book. It's fun to see attractions like that.

Now, if only someone would put up a bottlebrush tree to go next to that bottle tree ;)

They actually said 'you are the old lady....'? I bet you are just fooling with us:-) That bottle tree reminds me of the stand they put the wine bottles on to dry out when you go to one of those u-brew places.
