Hobbies: Beading

I am working on a prom bracelet for Grandaughter Madison, her dress is black and sparkly.

Maddies prom bracelet

It is about half done.  As you can see I work in a bead tray to contain the little suckers.  Black is hard on my eyes so I work at the dining room table with the natural light coming over my shoulder and the light above the table.  I can work on it at night but my eyes don’t like the strain.  I am using black beads and silver beads.  The blue bead on the end is a stopper bead, it will be removed and the thread will secure a button that is part of the bracelet closure.

I ordered beads for Paige’s prom bracelet, her gown is silver and gold…and the design is still in my head.  I am also thinking up a design for Noah to give to his date…her dress is sparkly and baby blue.

I work with Delica Beads size 11 with a number 10 beading needle in a Even Peyote Stitch.  I like the Peyote stitch, the beads interlock as you add one after another.

I keep all my Delica Bead supplies in a small plastic tote that is just big enough for my tray to fit in at the top of all the supplies.  I order all my beads online.  My friend Nellie is the one who got me started in this bead hobby.

The bracelet is looking good. My poor eyes wouldn't be able to take the strain of working with something that small.

Obviously you don't have a cat, LOL. Mine would be in the middle of this in a minute.
So pretty and elegant and I'm sure the girls will love and treasure them.
You have so many wonderful projects you accomplish. I think I'd better get busy!

You are definitely talented. Something like that would take me forever, but your prom designs have a deadline, for sure! :-)

The bracelets will be treasured by the girls because you made them especially for them. Well done!

Working with black (fabric or yarn) is difficult for me, too. Good light is essential.

beautiful! I have a lot of beads but haven't tried peyote stitching. I have worked with a bead loom but haven't had much success tying off when I'm finished. What site do you use to order beads?

I get blurry eyed just reading anymore so that is too small of work for me. You do great work. My wife would like to do that as she did when she was younger. The supply of beads are unlimited now. That makes it fun.

I remember the girls' prom bracelets you made last year. You do beautiful work and I know it is very tedious. My cats would scatter those beads to and fro, if given the chance! lol

Such a lovely gesture to make the bracelets to match dresses. It makes the bracelet so special. You find so many ways to keep the grands in your heart.

The bracelet is absolutely beautiful and I'm certain will be treasured by your grandchildren. I can't imagine working with anything that small...my eyesight and patience wouldn't last that long. Great work!

These are wonderful gifts and keepsakes that you are making for your grandchildren.
With my arthritic hands, I no longer have the dexterity for such fine work.

You must have good eyes to do that delicate, tiny work! I love my "bracelet of many colors that you made me! The black and silver is going to be a "stunner" and I love the diagonal design.

That kind of beading takes such patience!
How special for those girls, though!! :)

I love it....you are one tenacious woman. I use to bead ages ago and quit....don't think I'd be brave enough to start again.
