Jo

Our neighbor Jo has a very artistic flair.  She paints, sews and creates all kind of fun stuff.
This was our Christmas gift.
Crock and wood tools
Can you tell she knows me well?  The designs are wood burned into the wood utensils.
Wood Tools
I told her they are too pretty to use.  She said she uses hers all the time.
This is Odda. OR Odda come to visit.
Odda
Odda belongs to Jo but every so often something clicks in this girls brain and she takes off and comes to our house about 3/4 mile away.  It happens most often when Jo is gone, but not all the time…sometimes she is home…there doesn’t seem to be a real rhyme or reason for Odda’s behavior.

She is happy at our house, Chance likes her and they get along quite well.  However…we would rather she stay at home…we are afraid that she might get hit by a car or someone might shoot her thinking she is a bear.  She doesn’t have a mean or vicious bone in her body…but just the pure size of this dog can be intimidating. We have known this dog since she was eight weeks old. (She loves us.)

We have tried paying no attention to her until Jo shows up to fetch her…it doesn’t work.  She is always so happy to see us…we know she is here by the whack, whack, whack sound of her bushy tail hitting the kitchen window.

Hooch, Chance and Odda  May 14, 2009
We wish we knew what we should do or not do…having a dog that runs away from home is not a good thing.  She is about seven years old now…and not likely to change her behavior…so we give her a good amount of loving and answer the phone “Lost and Found.”

Chance on a spoon! I love the Christmas gifts, and just look at that face. Odda's adorable and must really need some lovin' to come see you. She's a cutie pie, how could you resist? :-)

Personalized gift are the greatest and most treasured. Jo is very talented. Odda is a beauty and must have a crush on Chance. I hope she is not harmed on her way to your house.

Hope Odda never gets hurt on her way to visit.

My brother on the farm has trouble with his dog as well. Riley will take off and run into town, about 5 miles away, and the folks there will call Dave to come to get him. They have to keep him on a chain most of the time.

Use them, I've stopped putting up things I think are too pretty to use. I use them and smile each time.

It's good Odda comes to your home instead of running away somewhere else. She is a cutie!

I know how you feel. I would consider those works of art and would have a terrible time using them in the kitchen. I'd have them displayed, for sure, though. She did a great job on Chance!

Odda is not going to change her habits, that's for sure. You guys have to just keep praying she makes the trip safely or they'd have to get one of those invisible collar things. If she's never been tied up that would kill her spirit and drive her crazy. Keep praying! I'm not Catholic but maybe hang a St. Christopher medal on her collar--isn't that for safe traveling? ;)

Those utensils are beautiful! Why couldn't I have been born with a little talent...for something! What a beautiful dog! Sounds like she really loves you all.

Lovely spoons- I agree- use them! When I got my hand loomed towels from Lisa M. I didn't want to use them at first- now they are my favourites and store bought ones don't compare.
Love the header photo of Chance. Such a typical border collie!

Odda has all of you trained! Smart dog. She can run away from Jo and get away with it. She comes to you and gets loved. Odda has it made!

Well, at least her destination is a safe one. I don't think she's going to stop, so I guess enjoy the visit.

Use them...life is too short to just keep things when they're meant for use...even if they are pretty...you'll appreciate them more. It's hard to change a dog without punishing them too harshly at this stage of the game. Missy (the neighbours dog) did the same thing and when we sohould have run her off the first time...we were charmed...and fed her😕

The spoons are beautiful, and made to be used. We are at the age that we don't need more 'decorations':)
As for Odda, well she is coming to a a safe place, but if there is the chance that something bad might happen on the way, I'd say it is up to the owners to contain her. Surely it wouldn't be that hard to fence in a small area that she could be in while they are away, or put her in the house for goodness sakes. I'd also be worried about strangers picking up a beautiful friendly dog like that.

My friend from the Philippines, Norm, lives at the other side of town with wife and five kids. The big hairy dog, Jake, likes to wander. Always has done so especially when the kids don't get the gate latched. The neighbor down the street sees him up the way and phones Jake is out. I go out and holler his name and he automatically and sadly walks to the car and jumps into the back of my car to go home. He hates that when I catch him. He is a big dog and sits in the back seat and breathes down my neck. I do think your neighbor dog has a bond with you that makes him think he needs to check up on you two and Chance. I would take him in an instant but I bet his people really like him.

Those wooden spoons are almost too nice to use.

Odda is a very special visitor. Just enjoy her. I would. And then I might take her back home.

I love the utensils. So pretty. Odda is funny. I'm sure it's not safe for her to be traveling to your house on her own, but it's so cute that she comes to visit her friends and let's you know by whacking her tail on the window.

You should use your spoons - I am using mine and they look great! Oh that Odda!

Beautiful spoons - I would never want to use them either!

As for Odda... maybe an email to the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan

https://www.cesarsway.com/

might find an answer? I suspect Odda is just lonely/bored!
