Meals on Wheels

We are not shut in enough to get Meals on Wheels.  We signed up Far Guys’s Mom a long time ago, when she was still in the apartment. That way she had one balanced meal a day and had contact with someone on a daily basis.  She said there was too much food for her to eat…and some foods she didn’t like.  She was a good cook and I am certain that some of the food cooked in huge batches for meals on wheels simply had little flavor.

Over at the local cafe you can go and have a Senior Meal at lunch time on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  I think lunch is $3.00 …we haven’t gone yet.  Someday we will have to give it a whirl on a day when we get up early enough to appreciate a lunch at 11:30. I am not sure what age you have to be to participate…but we are probably old enough.

There was a Food Truck over at Dorset Minnesota for the summer…we saw it parked there one day but didn’t stop.  Rumor had it that it was Companeros Mexican Restaurant Food Truck.

Another kind of Meals on Wheels.

That last one is pretty funny, but true, isn't it? They have a $5 (or whatever you can afford) meal at the Senior Center every day, but I only had it once. I didn't enjoy such bland cooking, the limp salad and plenty of beige items. But if I didn't have any other choices, I would go there. Lots of seniors do seem to enjoy it, though. :-)

What a blessing that Meals on Wheels is operating in your community.

You crack me up!! LOL!
When my county worker was here she wanted me to think about meals on wheels but I'm fine. On my good days I just make up a vat of soup or a big hotdish and I always make sure I buy some things I can nuke or there's always toast or frozen waffles. I asked her--do I look like I'm starving? ROFL!

Laughing at the septic truck! Great sense of humour!
I once cooked in a senior's lodge, and we had to keep the food pretty bland to suit the majority of the people's diet needs. Very strict rules in that kitchen.

Ha ha - so funny! Wishing you and Far Guy and Chance a great new year.

Love the slogan on the truck. I'd like to sign my mom up for meals on wheels but she refuses...says she can cook her own blankety, blank meals.

Dorset! My husband And Inliked the broastd chicken there and looks like the Younger Tufts brother is a cuter mayor than his five year old brother was. A $3 lunch sound awesome to me! Ok, this has nothing to do with your post, but I thought of one of your recent posts when I wa running an errand yesterday. Remember the carts blocking the handicapped spot? Could they have been left there by folks who actuallynparked i. the handicapped spots? The reason Inasked is because at the place where I had an errand yesterday, the handicapped spots were too far away from any cart corral and i wandered if that's why the carts were where they were in a recent photo of yours. Just curious.

That is so funny! I love it! Not everyone would see a good blog post in a septic truck.

If the Bennie every stops cooking I guess I could try Meals on Wheels?

The septic tank truck humor made me say, "Ew!" Glad they have a sense of humor. My mom and dad delivered Meals on Wheels for years and had many stories to tell. The meals were skimpy and not very nutritious, but the people who received them seemed to need the company even more than the food.

It's wonderful that people are able to get some bargains.

Dad enjoyed his visit each day with our Meals on Wheels person. It does make a difference.

Yes, It might have been the handicapped but certainly someone in the store would ahve noticed the carts piling up taking up two handicapped spots. I heard that the BRoasted Chicken place in Dorset was not going to be open much longer...but that may have been rumors:)

I suspect that if I signed up for Meals on Wheels I might at long last lose the pounds I keep thinking about losing.
Love that truck.

You certainly led us down the road for that punch line (or photo)!

Love the septic truck...reminds me of the Red Green show's septic guy. Did you ever watch that show? I loved that show....so many things I had to give up when I came here. It's like living in another universe.
I'll never be ready for Meals on Wheels. I don't go out to eat at all...it usually upsets my stomach! LOL!
