Slow Fall Color

The trees are changing slowly, they are maybe 30% colorful.  I am not convinced that this year will be a wonderful showing of fall color.

Slow turning leaves

The new passing lane over by Snellman, whatever they planted came up real green and inviting for deer on the left.

In town the other day a few trees were changing.

Trees in town

The trees were in bud when they started this road improvement project.  Sometimes the wheels of progress turn slowly.

Still no real colour here, just Ash leaves tuening brown and falling.

Some of our trees were so stressed from our drought that they just turned brown and fell off. But there are plenty of others that are taking up the season's colors. And yes, sometimes the wheels of progress fall off. :-)

Coloring up seems early here, but as DJan mentioned, the extended summer drought made everything so tired, the trees seem to be wanting to just give up early this year. Color usually takes its time here - throught the whole month of October.

I like the reds you get there. Why does road work always take so long?

We're getting color in our mountains right now, and just a bit here in the lowlands. It's about a month early this year.

The weather has been so fickle around here. If it is anything like that where you are--first, it's fall, then, oops, it's summer again--it's no wonder the trees are unsure whether to show their true colors. Maybe later, when the fall weather is here for sure!

There's been a lot of road work done around here this summer too. There's an elementary school a couple of blocks away and the road work in front of the school began the week school started. Needless to say there were long lines of frustrated parents waiting to drop off their kids.

I love it when the trees turn! We're having a warm spell, so there are only a few yellow leaves...

We aren't going to have great colors either - too dry. Even in Oregon they were turning early but went yellow to brown. Oh well will take the little splashes where we can.

You'd think they'd move quicker on the road work since we only have the two seasons--winter and road work. And winter lasts a heck of a lot longer==LOL! ;)

It looks pretty from here...it's October before the "peak" arrives here. I just want cooler temps. 60's are perfect!
