One by one the signs of Fall are visible.
The Lily Pads are turning yellow.
When I see a good patch of Lily Pads I think of a puppy we had once…Misty was a Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) and we got her in the spring of the year. One weekend we took her down by the docks at my parents and there were some ducks in the water beyond the Lily Pads. WELL…she was used to green being lawn…so she ran right off the end of the dock. She learned to swim real fast…and someone saved her…not sure who…that part of the memory is gone. She never liked water very much after that….but she learned all about docks and Lily Pads.
Hero Far Guy says “I just reached down in the water and grabbed her.”

Misty learned the hard way, but I'm glad it was just a scare and not a tragedy. Nice to have a hero around the house! :-)
What a fun story about Misty!
So funny.....bet that was a shock!
Our first dog Max, a Golden/Shorthair mix, had a similar experience jumping off a dock into a green scum covered pond. He adapted quickly though and proved to be a good retriever of ducks and geese....:)
I can just imagine him trying to walk on water.
Cute story. Signs of Fall around here also.
Yes, Fall is starting to show signs - a little more each day. The first hint is always a subtle smell on the morning air.
I love it when lily pads bloom. Yes, I did put one of my shawls in the fair and won a blue ribbon! I have even sold two of my shawls.
What a shock to your dog to think she was running on green grass and to hit the lily pads and water.
What a shock that must have been. I'll bet there was a chuckle AFTER she was saved.

Poor baby. Glad Far Guy was there to grab him. I've wondered before if Eli could swim if he fell off the pier.
Nice photo of the lily pads, and good story about your dog. (and I'm glad it had a happy ending)
That would be a surprise!
I feel as though somebody flipped a switch and turned off summer! Just caught up on a few days of your posts. I love the morning glories...think I'll add some next year.
How funny! Good thing she had an audience and a willing rescuer.
I actually had lily pads on my small pond years ago and little button did the same thing. He was not a year old so he was clueless. I really like the lilies photo.
Some dogs can't swim. My kids threw a dog off the dock and it couldn't swim. they were terrified and learned a good lesson.
Your story makes a great mind movie, with a happy ending.
Oh my- that must have been pretty terrifying, I don't blame her for not liking water much after that!
Tough lily pad lesson. That first step is a doozy!
Bet she didn't chase too many ducks after that point, either...
My cat Kaboodle did that once at the creek by our house we shared with mother. Beautiful header collage. Sending love and prayers your way.
What a tale or tail....ha, ha! Isn't it funny how minds work....I imagine it would look like grass if you were a puppy or even a baby of any kind. What a scary lesson though! Good job Far Guy!
LOL! Puppies! Glad FarGuy grabbed her out. :)
