In the yard

The Hummingbirds are still active, I think we have three of them although they never visit the feeder at the same time.  They do sit in the trees and wait for a safe opportunity to visit the feeder.

Some birds have left, the Robins and Goldfinches have moved on.  Our resident Nuthatches, Chickadees and Woodpeckers remain.   The Yellow Bellied Sapsucker is here once in a great while.

The Liatris and Black Eyed Susans are blooming in the wildgardens.

Liatris and Black eyed Susans

You know Fall is approaching when you see the first of the Asters blooming.

The nights have turned cool.  Into the 50’s F or 10 to 14C eh!  If you leave the windows open you close them by morning.  Good sleeping weather.

Oh how I would love to have some cool evenings. Do the humming birds also move on before winter sets in?

Visiting from Judy's blog. We are cool here this morning too. Feels like fall for sure, but I hope we have more summer before it leaves for good. Our robins don't leave till later, and we have goldfinches all year round over here in MI.

Can't wait for those cool nights to move down here! I so enjoy your wildflower photos, a little touch of "home".

Great picture of the hummingbird. We still have all the summer birds here. It finally cooled down last night to about 60 degrees. As you said great sleeping weather.

It almost always feels cool here in the mornings, but not lately: our nights have just not cooled down as much as they usually do. It's better than it was earlier in the month. And yes, I think I can begin to look forward to fall now. :-)

Love your wild gardens and nice you are getting some cool - we still have warm but looks like it is going to drop again this weekend - never remember a summer with such drastic ups and downs or so many high 90s.

I love cooler nights - and your hummingbird photo!!

Yes the weather is changing ~ we still have plenty of hummingbirds here (and they are thirsty); I saw a Robin playing in the bird bath yesterday (so they have moved west). Also saw a purple finch yesterday otherwise many of the pretty birds have moved on.

I look forward to open windows.

The cool weather does feel good. Good shot of the hummer. I can now see mine easier but they don't stick around if I walk by them. Our fall like wild flowers in the road are now blooming. I hope that doesn't mean an early winter.

I love cooler nights to sleep. I can't imagine closing the windows this time of year. It has to be well below freezing before I have the bedroom windows completely closed. Everything has bloomed early this year, although of course we know that once we hit August summer is on the downward slide.

Nice capture of the hummingbird!

You're so lucky having all those birds in your yard. We have very few varieties and certainly no hummingbirds!

I love the asters! We are still terribly hot in the afternoon, but mornings are about 10* cooler. It feels great to open the windows while we enjoy breakfast. John's having diabetes problems, so I'm taking a break from posting. Wishing you a great day.

Oh my goodness! Asters are a sign of fall? I'm not ready. I want it to stay summer for a while longer. Liatris!! Thwt's the name of the flower . . . I knew a woman who named her daughter Liatris. She only told me once, decades ago and I don't esily recall it on my own, but I knew it ws a flower. It was Liatris!

The 50's would feel good! We are supposed to have high 80's for the weekend and I am excited about that...especially excited about the chance of rain. I like that hummingbird feeder. The hummingbirds here fight and run each other away from the feeder.

I agree, it's coming. . .the early morning light is different and there is a subtle smell in the air.

No early white asters here yet but soon...

Very interesting blog. A lot of blogs I see these days don't really provide anything that attract others, but I'm most definitely interested in this one. Just thought that I would post and let you know.
