Someday Project: Sewing Machine Drawer

Quite some time ago I admired a Sewing Machine Drawer in a small shop. This was the inspiration for my own project.

Sewing Machine Drawer

June 2013

My good friend Susan gifted me a drawer.

Sewing Drawer

This photo was taken just after I put plastic wood in the slides along the top of the drawer.  I sanded it smooth and primed the drawer.  Then I had to decide what color?? Where was I going to put it?  (probably on the dining room table) AND what was I going to put in it?  Well…probably something blue…duh.

Vase and a Candy dish

I picked yellow for my paint and after many coats I declared it done.  I tucked a white and blue dishrag inside…later I would add some dried Statice.

Yes I know the yellow is a bit bright… but it makes me smile.  It has personality!

Cross another Someday Project off the list.

I completely lack any artistic skill; so I admire people who do have it.

I adore the bright yellow; makes your beautiful blue really show up well (plus John says to tell you those are Michigan colors!) I would love to try a project like this. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope you both feel ok this week. xo hugs to Chance

Perfect for adding a splash of color to your table.

And if it makes you smile then that is all that matters. Come to think of it - we need more yellow in our world!

Me I like yellow in my garden in winter, and anytime. Your yellow is looking good.

It's amazing that these old sewing machines could be taken apart and sold. I like the yellow and yes you put on many coats. The drawer is something that would have meaning for you.

It is a very successful project. The color is perfect. I have so much blue leftover from gates I would have to paint ours blue. The glass pieces are nict.

nict means nice, great, wonderful. nict.

Two of my favorite colors. Blue looks really good on me and yellow just makes me happy when I see it.

Very pretty..... sometimes before you paint the colors such as red or yellow if you prime the object with white you won't have to put so many coats on just tip I learned

Pretty and bright! I love the blue glass and the yellow is a nice contrast.

I have an old sewing machine drawer that is the perfect size for holding napkins, the smaller ones, I think they are called cocktail napkins. The splash of bright yellow in the kitchen will wake you up on dull mornings. I used to have bright red countertops. That sure was a waker-upper. Now I have sedate green and it doesn't do the same at all.

I like that yellow, and the blue is a nice compliment to it. Pretty!
