Flower Report

Seven, Five and Eight! Those are the numbers of Yellow Lady’s Slippers along the back drive.

In 2013 we had seven blooms, 2014 five and this year we have eight blooms.

Eight Slippers 2015

Here are six and there is another hiding in the brush.

This one is quite stately and closer to the road.

Lady Slipper June 17 2015

So this one makes eight!

I am thrilled that they are doing so well this year since it was such a horrid winter for many plants.

My Lupines all winterkilled…not enough snow and my Iris croaked too.  The Roses are looking better after I trimmed back some dead wood.

The Veronica is blooming.

Veropnica Blue Bouquet

Veronica makes the wild gardens look like they have water in them. This Veronica ‘Blue Bouquet’ reseeds itself all over…and when you have wild gardens that is a good thing.

Campanula Joan Elliott

Campanula glomerata ‘Joan Elliott’ is looking good.  She is just starting to form clusters of bellflowers.

Our weather has been wonderfully cool, with rain every other day…the lawn grows really fast….and if you are too busy to mow for a few days you may have to make hay!

June is such a delightful month with something new blooming every few days. The Deer have not eaten my Lilies yet…I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are eating their fill of the peas in the field across the road.

Your flowers are all so pretty. June is a delightful month here also this year. I am loving the weather, except for the rain.Flowers and trees are in bloom everywhere Been mowing once a week and that is not enough but it's all my body can take.

I love your passion for the flowers. It seems like "easy" knowledge for you - - - such a gift. I am fortunate to remember the generic name of anything - - - but ask me about a book and that's a whole different ballgame. We are each unique and often diverse.

I can't think of anything more fitting than for your pretty yellow slippers to increase. That second picture is a stunner. :-)

I can't even imagine seeing beautiful Lady Slippers blooming. Yours are so pretty and healthy looking. Your June must be like our May. Everything is most around here in May.

The ladyslipper is beautiful. And I also like your veronica flowers.

The ladyslipper is very different for sure. We have had so much unusual rain in Texas, and our plants are not used to so much moisture, so we have problems with drowning out and collecting mold, etc.

Very pretty. June is usually nice here, but way too hot this year.

Great success on the Lady Slippers!

I need to prune my lilac bush, as winter was not kind to it.

Very beautiful. I don't think we have any wild flower that compares to this.

It's always nice to see your wildflowers, I don't really see a lot here, or more like I am so used to them that I don't see them any more. Anyway, no lady slippers in this area. We are crying out for rain, our summer started very early, and continues on.

Interesting that your iris didn't do well, this is the first year mine have done much of anything although I see a few that just don't want to bud out. Love your wildflowers for sure and May/June are my favorite months too - before it gets hot and dries out!

Beautiful flowers! Funny, I began a post about my 'wild' gardens - but changed it...

It is a positive when the numbers keep increasing. The plants are so exotic looking. I really like seeing the lupines along the north shore. I hope your plants are not all gone but just taking a year off to regroup. The brownish leaves that come off ot the yellow lady slipper is such a strange looking thing.

Your picture of the Veronica looks lovely. I have never seen that flower before. Too bad it doesn't grow around here. It would become one of my favorite, especially if it reseeds...that's my kind of flowering friend!

June is a very active time of year. It's too bad the blooms last such a short time.

I love Lady's Slippers. I remember them from my growing up years ( in Manitoba) but here in B.C. I think it's too wet in winter for them to survive. It's too bad when we lose perennials in winter, whether its due to too little snow cover or too much rain. We sure could use some of that rain now though. We have at least 7 water barrels set up around the house and shed but they've been empty for weeks now.

I have never heard of Veronica (except in the Archie comic books we got to read at the dentist's office). I like the looks of yours. The Lady Slippers are a treat to see.

This has been delightful weather. I love it when it's around 70 in the day and chilly at night for sleeping. A lot of the rain lately has been during the night. Perfect weather! Except that we've had quite enough rain now--LOL! One extreme to the next. :)
