Zoo

We went for a bit of a drive and had a very nice walk around a zoo.  Not as big as big city zoos…I have to constantly remind myself that the animals are there for a reason. Education being the biggest reason and animals that cannot be returned to the wild.

 Monkey all caged up

A monkey…sad looking isn’t he/she?

Grizzly Bear

A big old Grizzly Bear… Adam and I watched them for quite awhile.  Their enclosure is small.

Peacock

I watched this Peacock for a long time also.  So long that Adam and I got left behind.  Eventually everyone found me enjoying the monkeys antics and the shade.

It was a warm day 80F or  26C  eh.

We all went out for lunch (Andy,Jen, Noah, Adam and Jamie and her three daughters.)  We visited an antique shop and then said our goodbyes and headed home to Chance.  Great Nephew Mason visited with Chance several times during the day…so he was in good hands…it was way to warm to take him with us.

 Black Swan

I saw my first Black Swan.  They were beautiful.

  2. It was 80 here, too, yesterday, and it felt hot. Time to get out the summer clothes I guess! When I lived in Baudette there was a small zoo like that and I always felt sorry for the animals. They were well-enough taken care of, but caged with nothing to do but watch the few people who visited once in awhile. Hopefully, they are a thing of the past as people are so mobile these days.

  3. Zoos are hard to visit, for me anyway. I feel for the animals, whatever the reason they are in those cages. And your black swan is definitely pretty. :-)

  4. I always thought peacocks had straight beaks. Now, I'm curious.

Zoos are wonderful, but it saddens me to see the animals pacing the fence, especially if the cage is too small.

  5. That is quite warm! I see a bit of green in the background, is it greening up at your place yet?
I feel sorry for the animals in those small zoos where they can't give them enough room to make things entertaining for them. That peacock has a seriously overgrown beak.

  6. Good for you to get out of the house and focus on things in the neighborhood. Sitting in the house isn't good for us.

  7. I thought 79 degrees was hot the other day..I'm guessing I just haven't acclimated yet. :( I haven't been to a zoo in a long time. That monkey does look a bit sad.

  8. It is difficult for me to see the animals enclosed, too - - - - even when I remind myself that many may have been saved from a more difficult life. They are truly fascinating to see in real life though.

  9. I agree with Lynda, makes me sad to see such beautiful wild animals confined in small places. Great pictures though, Blessings Francine.

  10. It's good to get out and about now, isn't? I have never seen a black swan, but have heard of them. I just love the shade of blue on a peacock!

  11. That black swan is lovely. In Portland we have a really nice zoo. Lots of room for the animals - and they just remodeled the elephant area.

  14. The Omaha zoo has a pair of the black swans and they are so great to see. We haven't been to a zoo for so many years.
