March 26: Snow and a Birthday

It snowed yesterday.  Winter chased Spring right out of Minnesota.  The wind blew and there were snow whirlwinds coming through the yard.

bench where we sit

It rained first and then it snowed.  This is our ball throwing wintertime bench.

SNow March 25

We only got a inch of snow not enough to help the trees out or to help out the drought situation we will be in as soon as it warms up.

Sixty-one years ago I became a big sister when my baby brother was born.

Carey and Connie 1954

I will always be the oldest and he one of the middle children.  He was born on a Friday.  Of course I don’t remember exactly what happened that day…I was just 2 1/2 years old.

Last night he sent me a photo.

Tulsa weather (2)

The weather in Tulsa OK was a bit uncertain yesterday.  This was a wall cloud as seen from his office …what looks like a flag in the center must be a reflection in the glass.   He said “When the cloud started to rotate and suck up water from the ground we went to the stairwell.”  The revolving doors of his office building were blown out from the winds.

Happy Birthday to my baby brother I am glad you made it to 61!

I will always be the oldest, too. I'm 2 and a half years older than my sister, too! We have much in common. Glad he was able to take shelter from that awful storm! :-)

I heard those clouds produced some horrible tornados so I hope your brother is okay! Glad you got some moisture and warm weather is headed your way again.

I am glad you got some snow. Even a little helps and I hope you get some more before the hot weather comes.
Yes, there turned out to be a tornado in Tulsa OK yesterday. Two years ago we lived in Edmond OK and a few tornadoes landed near us but we never had any problems. We also experienced some earthquakes but no damage from any of them. They were small. Interesting to a Minnesotan who had never been in an earthquake before. Two of them shook my bed. What a weird feeling. I will take MN weather anytime.

There are areas here too that may be paying for the lack of snow on the mountains, come summer time. Scary weather for your brother! Glad it all turned out ok, and Happy Birthday to him:)

That cloud would send anyone to the stairwell. Wow. I hope his birthday today is less dramatic but fun! Such a cute photo of you two.

It is a good day for a birthday. We are being told all our records for tornadoes for he past years. They seem to constant and yet are scattered all over the state.

Thanks for the photo - even if it was full of danger - of Tulsa. My grandparents lived there (as did I for 3 years) and it is a forever dear place in my heart.

We had the same stuff last Fri evening and then a big dump the next day. I can remember when my youngest brother was born but not the other ones.

Creepy clouds! Glad your brother was okay!
I'm the oldest, too. Will be 64 tomorrow and my brother turned 61 in January and my sister will turn 61 in December. (1954 was an accidentally productive year for my mom--LOL!)
