Monday Musings

It is still very cold here.  Sunday’s HIGH temperature was –6F or –21C  eh.  The wind chills ranged from –20F to –45 F  that is –28C to –43C.  Chance and I were outside for a short time, I threw the ball three times and then he went to the door.

I guess we are weird.  I heard so much about the SNL 40th party that when it was rebroadcast on Friday night I watched part of it.  I watched the first 45 minutes and laughed only once at Chris Farley…and then I turned the channel.  Far Guy watched with me for the first 25 minutes and then he muttered “It isn’t funny like it used to be.”

I finished the kitchen!  It is winter spring cleaned, cross it off the list!  It only took me a month from that first junk drawer to the last cupboard. Three large grocery bags of “stuff” went upstairs to be marked for a rummage sale and to be packed away.

We gathered together expired prescriptions and over the counter medication to take into the Sheriff’s office they will dispose of them properly.

Survivor and The Amazing Race start this week and I am so excited!   Finally something decent on TV!  I have a crochet project that I will work on while watching!

Last night we watched the Oscars for awhile…we still know the old actors.  We haven’t seen any of the movies.  I wonder about some of those dresses with the long trains dragging along the ground…are they ever really clean again…or maybe it doesn’t matter.

Same cold weather here. I have a bad case of cabin fever. Didn't watch the Oscar's as I haven't seen any of the movies up for awards. We must lose our humor when we age as I too don't find SNL funny anymore. Keep warm.

SNL is clearly not the same, but of course, I've changed, too.

Great job on your kitchen purge. I really must go through the house again and fill some donation bags. I don't have the desire to do a yard sale anymore, so I donate the bags to the Salvation Army.

Stay warm and enjoy working on your projects.

I finally gave up on watching the Oscars but enjoyed the dresses. Went to bed and just now found out that Birman won best picture. It should have been Boyhood, in my opinion. :-)

I have not watched the Academy awards show for years. Find it very boring and haven't seen the movies for decades. I am only interested in the gowns and the local newspaper covers them the next day. The gowns very disappointing this year I think. Too extreme for my taste.

The oscars were a diversion from lowsy programs, with the exception of Downton Abbey. Next Sunday is the end of the season for that one as well. We had seen some of the movies from last night, so knew the actors, but of course had not seen the one that won all the awards. I was expecting Imitation Game to get the award as well as Cumberbatch. Oh well. Is the academy out of touch with the American people?

Nice shot of the pink flower! Hope it warms up soon.

Love the picture of the fuchsia. Those and the pansy are my favorites. SNL is losing me. Hope it warms up soon.

Even the commercials have Terry and I wondering --- sometimes they don't even make sense.

I enjoy The Amazing Race, too. Traveling vicariously is always fun. I doubt that the dresses are worn more than once so they don't worry about dirty trains. They wouldn't be dressing like that in Minnesota this week!

You are really getting punished with cold weather. However, with the cold weather you got your kitchen cleaned.

SNL was such a great show for its time, and those early cast members were especially talented. I watched in order to see the old guys and the familiar catch phrases, but it was a bit like visiting a museum. I'm excited that The Voice is starting a new season tonight. Happy TV watching, and stay warm!

Wow! You must have a big kitchen if it took a month. I didn't watch the Academy Awards. I love movies, but I didn't see too many that were on the Oscar list. I don't know what got into me the last two below zero days. I decided not to complain about it, but go for a walk instead. Both days, I was out walking for about a half hour.

Ha! Hubby and I said the same thing. SNL hasn't been funny since the majority of the old cast moved along. We've watched it since it's inception, but not as consistently as with Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, etc;
I feel for you all, and my Mom. For us, 35 is too cold, haha.
We did not watch the Oscars. And no, they don't care - assuming they paid for them at all, it is chump change to them.

Be safe and stay warm!

Well, I guess that cold snap has got it cold all over. Even here, we have frost warnings--a bad thing for the cherry farmers, since the blossoms are already out.

Can't say I blame Chance for giving up after only three tosses of the ball. Those are some cold temps!

It's cold here too....not as coldas you but cold and gray and gloomy and they plowed the snow finally but then it melted just enough to turn to ice! I finally went to the store yesterday....hadn't been out in over a week but I was good and I just needed birdseed and milk and I got a few other things while I was there.
I don't watch those shows but you are right and SNL was boring so I turned it off...I've taken to listening to audio book tapes that I picked up cheap at the library sale. I can listen and crochet and it's the most multi-tasking I can handle any more. Good for you on the Spring cleaning! I cleaned the garage and threw out a bunch of stuff those 2 nice days we had then it snowed and iced and there was no garbage pickup! I'm up to the gills with trash now. I've been going through things too and putting it away for a sale this Spring when they have the Citywide sale and put you on the map. It hasn't gotten out of the 20's for days here. Stay warm!

By the time I got here it's Tuesday and up to 14 degrees. Heat wave--LOL!
Congrats on finishing the kitchen! That was a huge job. :)
I haven't seen any of the movies that were nominated, but then I am lucky if I have even seen one some years. I get them much later on Netflix. I record it so I can FF through most of it. Some years I never do watch and just delete it. This may end up being one of those years--LOL!
Stay warm!! Give Chance a ball toss from me. :)

That last photo is gorgeous. I am a fan of The Voice and enjoyed it last night. We had snow overnight but thankfully the roads are ok. Oldest cat, Kaboodle, had a seizure this a.m. and I had to rush her to the vet for meds. Hoping the aft. will be warmer and springtime won't be too far off!!!

I didn't thing SNL was funny either, and gave up on it too. But then I never really watched it in the first place.
I watched the Oscars on a small TV at the Oregon coast cabin. I mostly watch it for the dresses, but we did see seven of the eight nominated movies. We did not like Birdman.
