Tree, Barn and Birds

Our downstairs tree is finally complete!  It looks pretty much the same as it does every year.

Downstairs tree

The sun was finally out, so we went for a ride.

neighbors barn

The neighbors barn is sporting a wreath. You can see we don’t have much snow…about 2 inches give or take.

I sat outside soaking up some sun, the birds kept me company.  This guy is a male Downy Woodpecker.  He is looking longingly at the suet feeder.

We have three kinds of woodpeckers; Red Bellied, Downy and Hairy.  Our usual Chickadees,  Nuthatches, a few Juncos and a couple of Blue Jays.

Far guy is putting corn out on the edge of the woods for the squirrels and rabbits.  The Blue Jays visit there every morning…it keeps them from harassing the smaller birds.

Seven days and counting.  Today I hope to finish decorating the Shiny Brite tree.

Pretty tree and I love the bird pics. I look forward to your Shiny Brite tree reveal.
That's a nice barn with the wreath.
We were at the dentist yesterday for 3 hours - he has a feeder in front of the windows and I had so much fun watching the variety of birds.

Your tree is very pretty. I miss all my birds. Since we moved last year I don't have many birds around as we have an overabundance of squirrels. Love you woodpecker pictures. I used to put peanuts out on the patio table every morning for my Blue Jays. It was fun watching them choose just the right peanut.

The picture of the barn looks like a postcard! The woodpecker has beautiful detail in its feathers. The tree probably looks about the same as usual, because if you are like me you are using the same ornaments. Have a great Thursday.

Yes, the tree does look a lot like last year's, but it sure is pretty! I am looking forward to the Shiny Brite tree, too. Love your birds, and that barn does look festive. :-)

The tree is very pretty! Good idea about putting corn outside the yard. We have 3 or 4 Blue Jays that hang around. Can't wait to see the shiny brite tree.

Look at that blue sky and the red barn - gorgeous! I haven't seen the sun in three days - fog and general dreariness happening here. :o(

Your tree turned out great. I do notice that we place our ornaments on the tree better some years than others. It was a good year for us this time. We are getting the presents that have to be shipped out tomorrow. Have to buy one more thing after school to go in one of the boxes. I have to work hard to keep my two squirrel feeders loaded. We never have the hairy woodpecker.

The tree is beautiful! I enjoyed the drive through your countryside and I actually think we have a big more snow than you do. Not much, though.

Your tree is beautiful! It seems some years I can't get my tree to be what I picture in my head. Yours is perfect!

Your downstairs tree is pretty awesome, but I am waiting for the shiny brite reveal. ;)
There's something different about watching the winter birds at the feeders. Smart idea to try to deflect those blue jays, though. They're gorgeous, but nasty. ;)
