Dangers While Mowing

Sure there are the normal dangers; rocks, twigs and PI ( Poison Ivy) and trees to watch out for.

I never dreamt that I would encounter a deer like I did yesterday.  I was tootling along, I am finally getting the hang of that hydrostatic drive that some man invented where I have to push in the pedal  to move forward…there is some fancy crap you have to do to go backwards…turn the key a certain way and push a button and then press some other pedal…I hardly ever back up anyways.  I usually just get off and push it backwards.

Anyways I was tootling along minding my own mowing business and a deer came out of nowhere and jumped over me and the mower.  Talk about a scary experience…good thing she or he was a good jumper.

Might have ben this deer one Last evening we went for a ride…saw this one..it might have been her?

Might have been this deer two

Was it you?

So now I will warn everyone look out for deer when you are mowing, they cannot be trusted…luckily I am unscathed and it was a good thing I went to the bathroom before I began mowing.

No danger of a deer hiding on my lawn. At least I think not although the grass is getting so long, who knows. Perhaps I had better borrow your mower.

That is bizarre. So thankful you were not hurt.

Yikes! And, since all is well, how exciting! Such a pretty one and she looks very curious about you.

Gotta watch out for those deer; they're a shifty lot!
And that'll teach you to title the previous post 'Not Much Happening"!

Eek!

Wow! Good thing they are excellent jumpers, Connie. I laughed at Marty's comment. :-)

Sure glad you escaped injury when that deer startled you. You must be feeling much better now in order to go out and mow, especially with that new fangled mower.

You will need one of those cages that they put on the machines that pick up golf balls at driving ranges!

Oh my, that could have been ugly for all concerned! Sure good for a laugh though, since all came out unscathed:)

Holy cannoli! Close call and scary! That happened to me once except they didn't jump over me...I was coming out from beneath the sheets and clothes I had just hung on the line and Nitty was out there in the yard and this deer came running through the yard and almost ran me over. It didn't see me and I hadn't seen it. I know there was a gal in Iowa walking her dog that was attacked by a deer in rut.....must have been a blind deer!
The cage is a good idea!

That must have been scary! It makes a good story though. Glad you weren't injured.

Yikes! Do you think she had a fawn nearby?

You are lucky that there was no injury. One kick of their hooves does a lot of damage. I would think that the deer was somehow startled by the mower. I don't think he said to his friend watch me jump over this lady!

Wow. I never heard of the like...... Though I did have a deer try to jump over the hood of my pickup once. He failed.....

Glad you are okay! That first paragraph could be me. That's why around here the push mower is mine. Poppy was mowing around the pond last week and mowed right up to a newly born fawn. He stopped the mower and got off just as the mother ran out of the woods. Poppy backed away and gave the mother deer and baby time to leave.

Scary! So glad you weren't hurt. (BTW, I found out hibiscus and Rose of Sharon are the same thing! Google told me.)

Well, you may have turned out unscarred, but I don't know about unscathed. That must have been quite a shock! Glad you are okay. Hope that deer steers far away from the property next time you rev up that mower!

Alligators, yes. Deer, no, sadly. I wish we had to watch out for deer.
Glad you weren't physically hurt, too.
Have a great weekend! ♥

I am catching up and I just read about your slow day. I hope you weren't wishing for some excitement. We need to be careful of what we wish for. :-)

They get spooked easily but it must have not had time to think when running into a clearing that the mad mower was on the loose.

OMG! Jumped right over you and the mower?! Why didn't she run an opposite direction? Maybe she was trying to attract you away from a fawn? How strange--and scary. They are BIG!
