What the?

I was fine yesterday morning..just hunky dory..I headed for work.  Got to work safely put on my reading glasses to unlock the door and disarm the alarm.  What the?  My vision was all messed up..of course I had just come in from the outdoors..maybe my eyeballs just needed time to catch up.

I fumbled with my office keys..I could not read the tiny little print  that denotes “My Office”..what the?  Oh my goodness..what in the world is wrong with me?  I must have a tumor..that’s it I will have to take the rest of the summer off..of course I will need treatment ..won’t I?  Oh boy ..I sat down to comprehend what was happening.  I felt my head all over..what the? I could see fine without my glasses..the tumor must only affect my close vision..weird.

Dianthus partially out of focus

Close up I had camera vision..partially blurry and out of focus and partially okay..especially if I closed one eye..yeah that’s it!   What the? If I  close one eye I can see fine..maybe I can wear some kind of sexy eye patch?

Then I nearly poked my eye out.  Whilst checking it seems I was missing a lens..what the?

Yes that explains it…I have lost a lens someplace..well I found the darn thing in the car..the little tiny screw that hold the lens in place had fallen out…which in turn let my lens fall out.

I had a spare pair of driving glasses that I hate..but I wore them the entire day. I use them for night driving and they have bifocals.  I hate bifocals..but I love my reading glasses.

I fixed my reading glasses after work..they are good enough till Monday..then I can get them fixed proper..and maybe order another pair since I don’t have a tumor or anything:)

Yes tumor is always my first thought. I hate it when the vision problems take place and the glasses get messed up. I need to go get new glasses so that I can see again. I have never seen that dianthus before now. It is wonderful.

Oh, that made me laugh! Isn't it true that we always figure the worst has happened? I did that once, too, and it took me awhile to figure out that one of the lenses in my glasses was gone. I am glad it was not something you can't fix. You sure do tell a good story, though! You had me going... :-)

Whew! I was frightened there for a bit. Glad all is well.

I have had that happen. Glad you found it fairly easily!

That happened to me a while back and I put in a new screw but it was stripped and wouldn't tighten so I got tape and taped it all up and it worked fine. I planned on taking them in and getting them fixed properly...that was a year ago. I'm still walking around with the taped up glasses. Evidently I have no shame. LOL!

Just had cataract surgery, so understand not being able to see as you are accustomed. New glasses due in this week, thank heavens. I'm glad you are okay! The flowers are so pretty.

Had me laughing! Can't you pretend it's a tumour and get the rest of the summer off?
I love that dianthus, I think I'll see if Janice can get it in for me next year.

Okay that totally made me laugh - as that is something I'd do!

LOL .....at least it WASN'T a tumour. I hate having to wear spec's.....especially in the heat.

I've had that to happen, too.
I went Friday to have my eyes checked. I'll be getting stronger lens and new frames - the choices all looked like my grandpa's glasses from the 60's!!!!!

I like to wear contacts but with my bifocals I have to have reading glasses all the time. Your story was pretty funny, I hate it when that happens :)

Funny! It's surprising what can fool us old folks. So no tumor ...what kind of big celebration was there?

I've had that happen to me too! I wear reading glasses, and tend to wander around with them on top of my head so they are right there when I need them. One time I was in a store and when I pulled them down to use, my vision was kind of like yours. When I finally realized I had lost a lens, it dawned on my that I'd dropped my glasses in the fitting room, and the lens was probably there on the floor. I was terrified that someone might have gone in that fitting room after me and stepped on the lens. Thank goodness it all ended well, but I'm sure I got a few funny looks as I ran across that store to get back to the fitting room, hoping to get there in time.

Oh lord / you made me laugh out loud!

Hope all is well with you and Far Guy. And the handsome blogging doggie Chance.

I'm in the UK so can;t visit you as often as I'd like.

That is way too funny!!! It happened to me a long time ago. Makes you think that you are getting old or something. Like putting your glasses down and not remembering where you put them. Glad it was just a lens that fell out and not something worse. I periodically check the screws in my glasses now just so that doesn't happen again.

I love the way you can communicate something a bit disturbing in a comical manner! One time I got in the shower and couldn't figure out why my vision was fading - - getting cloudy. My glasses were still on and getting fogged up by the steam!
