Ditch Lily

The common everyday old fashioned  ditch lily that everyone has.

Ditch Lily

I like mine..it is a double and the deer don’t eat them.  They nibble at the Designer Fancy Smancy Day Lilies but they leave these old ones alone.  They must have bred the bad taste right out of the designer ones.

Sometimes new is not better..sometimes old is just perfect:)

My lily bed is another thing I left behind at the old house. I watched, with glee, each year when new plants would emerge. I have a new lily bed, now, and will enjoy seeing it spread and fill in. The deer seem to be leaving it alone - although the bunnies decided to mow down one portion early in the spring.
Your double blossom is stunning!

That would be something that I considered really different, and unusual. We have the plain yellow Stella 'doro's. But they don't grow in the ditches around here.

Kind of like with roses, the old fashioned ones still smell like roses!

I don't have one of those. I love it. We only have ditch WEEDS here.....chamomile.....I call it ditch weed tea.

Score one point for your side against the deer!!! They do give you all some grief in the gardens in your neck of the woods. Perhaps it's because your winters are harder.

I gotta get me some of those. My deer eat anything and everything.

HEY! That double is too beautiful to label a mere common lily!

Yes, I believe these are everywhere...they grow here, and I just planted a purple one...the deer have not found it yet...

We always called them tiger lilies but they were the orange ones. They remind me of my childhood. I planted some here that someone gave me but they must be "designer" ones because the deer love them! LOL! I've never seen the double blooms...it must be a MN thing! LOL!
