Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice roses are a favorite of Jen’s.   She had a dozen in a large vase last weekend.  I asked the boys if they knew the name of the roses.  Of course they didn’t. What 10 and 12 year old boys would?

The upper petals are red, and the underside of the petals are white.

Outer Petals Fire and Ice Roses

I gave them the lesson and told them it might come in handy some day.  Just in case they ever wanted to send their Mother flowers.  They both smiled at me and said “Yah sure Grandma.”

They are easy boys to watch, they just need an adult or two in the house to keep one eye on them.  Noah watches out for his brother, he feels very responsible for him.

Adam is grounded from all video games for two weeks…he woke up Saturday morning and said “I dreamt that I was ungrounded and I was playing video games again.”  His Grandpa said “I bet that was a great dream! “  Adam said “It sure was.”   Tomorrow he gets ungrounded..his two weeks are up. I asked him if he learned his lesson, he replied “kinda”  and then “Grandma could we just not talk about it?”

I felt sorry for Adam but I guess the punishment fit the crime.  I was tempted to let him play games on my Kindle Fire..I point blank asked his Mother is he was specifically grounded from Games on Grandma’s Kindle..the answer was “No.”   I decided that I would abide by his parents rules.  Even if part of me did not agree with them.  I was just feeling sorry for the little boy with the huge blue eyes who always makes me smile:)

Sounds like you have some responsible young men in the making.

Imagine not being able to play Angry Birds for a fortnight! There are advantages to growing old after all - there is nobody around to ground me anymore.

Awww. You are such a good Grandma. I'm sure there's plenty of reasons your grands love you so much, and being so nice is just one of them! :-)

Yep, 'tis true. Agree or not we must abide by the rules of the parents. Oh how I want to 'cheat' sometimes, but I don't!!!

I'm actually guilty of startin' somethin' that gets the kids into trouble but I always fess up and confess that I started it. That's usually followed by a great big "MOOOOOOM!!!!" What can I say...I love to have fun!

Your fellas sound like a treat to have 'round and oh, those big blue eyes are a heartbreaker for sure!!!

Have a terrifically blessed day sweetie.

Yup! Got to abide and back'em up...whether you agree or not.
It's got to be much harder as a grandma than a mom--LOL! ;)

I absolutely love those two-tone roses! They're gorgeous! Never knew the name of them. Maybe the boys will remember them one day. ;)

Oh, it is so hard to resist caving in when blue-eyed blonds look at you with sad puppy dog eyes!
My son had a round cherubic face, along with the blue eyes and blond hair. My neighbor once asked how I could ever say, "no" to him!

Finally getting around to reading some blogs again. Being a grandma is NOT harder then being a parent. In fact, it is way, way better.

Sometimes it's hard to see the world through a kid's eyes. These guys seem to make it quite interesting.

Oh isn't it sometimes hard to back the parents, when the looks from the grands make your heart melt? Stay strong!!!

Just read this to Bet, we had a mighty good chuckle, reminds us of some boys we know, just a tad younger.

My daughter would be proud of you as a Grandma for abiding by the restrictions the parents set. LOVE those flowers!

The real treasure of this "punishment" is not the game part, but because mom and dad followed through and enforced it. I see so much threatening and farting into mittens, that it is refreshing to see parents make an impact.
