Counting Down

I have 3 1/2 days left..3 1/2 work days till some morning jammie time and afternoon adventures.

I heard through the grape vine, that they want me to stay on part time over the winter, writing their blog, answering their emails and collecting the mail and phone messages.  Since most of that can be done from home..I might be talked into it. Might.   We might be able to negotiate some type of contract. My contract ends at the end of this month..so renegotiation is in order.

I have been asked if the Board Members read my blog..they may..they may not.  So far they have not left any comments.

I am busy, clearing up loose ends..taking volunteers to lunch, giving Cub Scout Tours and freezing my butt off. The high today was 52..and windy and rainy..it was not much above 52 in the building.

This is a corner of the Heritage Room. We have a swinging cradle with wheels, two rocking chairs, a parlor organ and a table with glass balls on it’s claw feet and a dusty old rug.

Far Guy came in to volunteer today, he vacuumed ( he finally understands my vacuum cleaner complaints) and made sure all the storm windows were down and in place and locked.  Tess came in to work on an ongoing project.  Sentence to Serve came in and washed windows in the basement..this time with two guards..and a few more women in this STS group..who had apparently never washed a window in their life. ( Just my observation..since they used the one sheet at a time paper towel method..S..L..O..W..L..Y… first in clockwise circles then in counterclockwise circles ) I had to leave the room, I exited biting my lip..where do these people come from..oh right STS.  I am always temped to ask..what did you do?  I figured this group was a little more dangerous than the last group..just a vibe..or maybe it was the two guards that put me on edge. Perhaps the women fight and pull hair..that could be why they need two guards.

It pissed me off today..yes sometimes I get pissed off..so sue me.  Someone took one of my cheater plugs..you know the 39 cent plug that converts a three prong to a two prong.  The wiring is old.  I splurged and bought two..now I will have to get two more..because when you are down to one..you will soon have none.

Gus the Ghost has calmed down a bit..I think he will miss me over the winter..I think he may be depressed.   He sabotaged one of the ancient garage sale vacuum cleaners and almost started it on fire..blue smoke was everywhere.  One more vac bites the dust..that would be the number 4 garage sale vacuum.  Perhaps if all the board members would have chipped in on a new one, I would have one decent one:)

  1. You have done such a marvelous job organizing and working, you know they will want to hang on to you.

I use to have a count down to retirement...but things change, now I just count the hours to the end of the day...kinda sad when you think about it.

  2. Now you made we wonder what they did to get STS duty. I do think that when somebody gets "community service" it can't be that bad, right?

Congratulations on getting through the whole contract and making them want you to stay on! What is their blog address anyway? I'd like to take a look at it.

  7. I saw the picture in the preview and wondered who was expecting...oops...

Anyway...maybe it's Gus who likes to sabotage the vacuums...He sounds like that kind of guy...

  9. That is a great cradle! Sounds as if you have done a good job and definitely deserve some time with jammies and lie-ins.

  10. Oh, you make me laugh!
Hope you are able to negotiate that contract so you can do it all from home, in your jammies, all warm and cosy. Maybe Gus would be less cranky if you invited him home with you. He probably doesn't like the cold either:)

  12. Hang in there. Warm morning jammie time here you come.

In answer to your questions. No snow here...yet.

I'm using the Photoshop software that comes with Adobe Creative Suite 4. I only wanted Photoshop and Illustrator, but to buy them separately was almost the same HUGE price as the whole package.

  13. I was just going to ask how many days....pure bliss when you are done I am sure.

Renegotiate hard!!! They need to be more generous with the perks.

    Like a day off...and that.

  15. I am just happy to hear that people actually have to do community service. At least it is getting done, right?

  16. I know you will enjoy your time back at home and afternoons with Chance and Far Guy exploring and photographing.
If I did negotiate a new contract, I would make sure it's a good one. They are an obnoxious group of folks!

  17. People take the darndest (is that a word?) things don't they?

If you do decide to renegotiate your contract, ask for the moon. You can always come down to what you really want. You are deserving of a bit of jammie time. I know you will enjoy it now that you know what you were missing.

  18. Yaw Hoo - - - almost there!!!
About the vacuum cleaner - - - as you and I know, you get what you pay for. It's worth buying decent appliances to do a proper job. Dust is an enemy to antiques so get something that will eradicate it.
It seems like it might be a good idea to have them let you pick the board members!

  19. I remember my countdown...it was so exciting! A little work from home sounds like it could really be fun, especially if you negotiate a good deal.

  20. Ah. *hugs*
Maybe Gus can tell you where your plug is.
The way the board members take care of the place, I expect your negotiations will fall through.
Except for what you can do at home.
    Maybe.
    Yay freedom!
